LOL -- Fauci is now responsible for 788,000 lives lost. Good one. Party of personal responsibility, right here. What drug is cheaper, more available, and more effective than vaccines that are free to the public? How many of those 788,000 lives lost were due to people rejecting distancing, masking-wearing, vaccines guidelines, largely due to fools on the internet and conservative media outlets encouraging them to do so?
You're basically agreeing with me that it's primarily ideological issues that are keeping people from getting vaccinated.
Wrong, there are plenty of people whose risk profiles would make foregoing the vaccine the correct decision, absent coersion. Young children for example. Zero reason to subject them to a vaccine that has been in use for less than a year. But power-mad psychotic unelected bureaucrat Fauci wants it done. Another group, the already infected who have antibodies. Zero reason to get the jab.
So why are some of the high profile athletes not getting it or lying about their status? I don't think they fear it because they already know other athletes that got it. It's not like a bunch of fat people with diabetes who noticed that their friends keep dropping off after the virus. It's probably a smart decision to get it.
that's your opinion if it's a bad decision for them. Russell Westbrook got COVID , so did Lamar Jackson. Like that didn't make them worse or better at their job or disrupted their lives. but it's just interesting that the pro athletes who are in superior health don't care.
People who have already been infected and are also vaccinated are the most resistant. They are more resistant than those who have been infected and not gotten vaccinated. There is reason for them to get the vaccine. These vaccines have had the largest sample size testing of pretty much any medication there is. Very few fall into risk profiles that would make forgoing the vaccine the correct decision. Those will allergies or some known conditions would be the only exceptions. Fauci is onboard with that. Whether a person in charge of medical matters is elected or unelected is irrelevant. The requirement should be that they are qualified in a medical manner. Fauci is qualified.
It put them at risk of serious long term health issues, put those around them at risk for serious long term health issues or even death. Not getting the vaccine is a horrible decision.
For them? Let's see what happens to athletes. NBA, NFL, College, MMA, Boxing etc in the near future. you know you can get Omnicron even if you are boostered, because the boosters don't target that variant. you can transmit it to.
What do you mean for them? You aren't suggesting that if they don't get sick or people around them don't get sick that it's okay are you? That is by no means a valid test or sample size without control groups and knowledge of all of the variables. I'm sure you meant something else by your "Let's see what happens." You can get other variants too even if you are boosted. But it is less likely. Thus a greater risk if you aren't vaccinated. The best defense against Omicron is in fact vaccination and booster. Luckily, so far the Omicron has been milder. Hopefully that continues to be the case.
Why subject young children to the increased threat of getting COVID-19? How many years worth of data do you have that this would not have a long-term adverse effect on them? And why subject communities to the increased threat of spread due to children congregating in schools without any sort of protection? There is wide agreement that children are a vector for community spread and transmission rates are reduced for vaccinated individuals. So, "zero reason" is simply not true. And you really sound unhinged using adjectives like "power-mad pscyhotic". Fauci isn't alone in thinking vaccine mandates for people congregating in schools is a good idea. It's his job to give his recommendation as an infectious disease expert. Why in the hell should we rely solely on elected politicians to direct our public health response without consultation with experts in the field? As if being elected by a largely scientifically illiterate public makes one's input more valuable for something like this. Nonsense.
None of this is true of course. The percentage of people with medical reasons to not get vaccinated is a small percentage of those refusing to get vaccinated. The majority of those are resisting are doing so solely for political reasons and based on misinformation spouted by being so for political reasons (people like you). Children... there is not zero reason for them to get vaccinated. And again, those refusing to get vaccinated are not children. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases... in children has, mild symptoms or no symptoms. Last... people that have gotten or believe they have had COVD-19. First, there is a possibility of reinfection and people that haven't been vaccinated have a much higher chance of reinfection than those that have not. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/can-you-get-covid-19-more-than-once/
They probably fear the vaccine more than the virus. There is always a segment that incorrectly believes the vaccine is more dangerous than the virus.
or is it because they already had it, or know other athletes that had it and made a decision based off the results. I'll pick one player and you tell me your assessment.
It's too early to say anything much on Omicron. Based on what's on paper and early data, protection against infection probably has decreased while there is likely still good protection against severe disease. ps. mRNA vaccines weren't designed exclusively for a variant and testing has confirmed it does provide cross-variants neutralizing antibodies. This is one of the reasons why vaccination is recommended even if you had a prior infection.
