Sooooo....who are your late 1st round targets with the Heat/Nets pick?

Let's assume the pick will be in the 20s. Who do you like?

Mine so far ...and yes it's a bit of a homer pick:

    EJ Liddell
    6'7
    240lbs
    Junior (F)

Helped clamp down Banchero most recently in tOSU's win over #1 Duke.

    21.3 PPG
    7.3 REB
    3.8 BLK!
    2.7AST
    40% 3pt
    55% FG

6'7" with a 7' wingspan, I'm seeing nothing about him right now, we could pick up this dude in the second round or even undrafted.

The percentages look alright, except for 67% FT. Often a better indicator for NBA shooting ability than actual 3 point percentage.

He will be a top 45-50 pick. And that's me being conservative.

I very much agree with your FT% being a good projector of overall shooting @ NBA level but in Liddell's defense: has been streaky this year FT-wise. Did have a 10/10 game a few weeks ago. Shot 75% last year and 72% as a freshman. So I think it's just s fluke @ 67% through these first few games.

My main concern is perimeter defense. If he can prove he can step out and guard a 2 or 3 effectively, then he's an ideal target late in the first or early in the 2nd if we can accumulate some picks.

Can't we just redraft Sengun? He's apparently the best rookie in franchise history according to you guys

Some have him slated as a lottery pick, which is likely and I've seen him as low as 20 on nbadraft.net

But possibly moving up for Keegan Murray might be something in the limited amount I've checked this range.

It will likely change as I get more info on players.

I think Murray has made himself a lot of $$$ and pushed his stick out of range of the Rox's 2nd pick.

I do like Liddell but agree he's more of a target in Round 2 (assuming we pick up a second or at the deadline). He could be a great guy for Tate to mentor both being Ohio State guys.

I'm looking at point guards with that late first. Andrew Nembhard and Carlos Alocen are two prospects that intrigue me. Of course I'm also game to pick up someone who slides down. Great topic OP!

Kennedy Chandler. Freshman PG at Tennessee. Kinda undersized at ~6'0, crafty and skilled. Might play himself into the teens. Reminds me of a more athletic Jalen Brunson or DJ Augustin. Some floor general to his game.

Also started watching Taran Armstrong's film. Freshman PG at Cal Baptist. He's a big PG (6'5) from Australia with serious passing instincts and vision. Shaky 3pt shot, good FT%, fun floater game. Remains to be seen if he's 1st round talent, but he's fun to watch. The whip pass at 0:37...wow.

CARLOS ALOCEN. Kind of a less athletic, Point Guard version of Manu.

Plays with pace, good shooter, slashes off ball and controls offense well. Great size at 6'5 and great passing instinct. Lot of crafty moves on offense and changes speeds well. He seems to have a great understanding of the game and would pair so well with Alpi. I think as we get closer to the draft, he will rise on draft boards the way Alpi did.

    Defense may be an issue..

Why do people love PGs who only score and can't pass

I know nothing about EJ Liddell but that size and wingspan and scoring make me droll
Plus someone's gotta guard Lebron/Durant/PG/Kwahi/Giannis/Butler (i dont know if hes a good defender)

Tari Eason is another guy that I'd be all over with a 20s pick. I think he could end up being a poor man's Patrick Williams (who I think is a perfect fit next to Sengun).
