after these two games, GMs of playoff contenders gonna call Stone to inquire about both ego and cwood,
before Feb deadline, Stone as busy as a bee...

edit: hope before the deadline we could get rid of wall, dhouse n nwaba, let them play somewhere else should be win-win for both parties.

i would have kept danuel and nwaba, got a real coaching help, kept them on a short leash and made them enter The Bad 3pt Shooters Anonymous 12 Steps Program.... and championship here we come!..... 2 wonderful role players on cheapo

    not a bad idea...
they can either be our cheerleaders or tanking captains

    that's the point!

cmon now nwaba only needs to add a 3 pt shot and hes an allstar and remmeber historically hes not that bad of a shooter. And danuel is really a solid all around guy if hes not allowed too much freedom....

if someone tell me, Silas the RIGHT coach for tutoring young players, for now i could hardly agree with, or at least that not yet being proved by him right in my face...(dun't tell me Jalen and Sengun does not deserve 20+ PT, they deserve someone to bring them in, guide them, lay foundation for them, design plays and schemes for them)
maybe Silas could never be THE guy (like said, he was lured onboard to go along and get along with Harden and Wall).

as to helping on Danuel and Nwaba to be better players...uh uh, tbf, i dun't think that's Silas's job.
those two are vets, role players, they should know their job - simultaneously fit into a certain system (if there are a system in place), grinding in the gym to keep-fit, and, night in night out coming into the games, 12-18min a night, ensuring to make those shots and box in their man. if they fail to do that, it's GM's job to trade them away and bring back right vets.

lol i never mentioned anything about silas

besides 'they are the vets and thats not gms job or coaches job' is imho such a weak ass bs

you do whatever it takes to win even if you need to babysit nwabas kids until hes working on his 3 pt shot

you cant expect to do average on your job and achieve extraordinary results(helloo brain!), you put extraordinary work first then results will come...you do more than expected THAT IS THE RECIPE

your gm and coach may not be the best or have the most assets or experience but they can outwork and outsmart in order to outperform others

if they serious about the rings.. otherwise keep getting them checks

I go back and forth internally on CWood. I love his game. Yes, I wish he was a little more well rounded on defense and had a post up game, but he brings some unique skills to the 5 for us. My biggest concern is not his contract or age, but his ankles. Can he stay healthy is the question that concerns me the most.

If he can get to mid season and continue this current trend, then I do think it makes sense for Stone to discuss an extension. If he can extend him at a reasonable rate, it just makes good business sense, whether you keep him or use him in a trade at some point.

As of now, I'm cheering him on and loving our little win streak--it's good to win and win with a scrappy, team-focused style.

Here's what it all boils down to, for me:
If I am Stone I am offering 4 yr/$100M extension. That's way below max.
If I am Wood, I am taking it, given that it's freaking $100M and given that my ankles are a bit wobbly.
    Win-Win!
    Do it.

I go back and forth on Wood too ..... and every time it comes down to the bottom line and what's a fair deal / reasonable rate.

We know he's made the statement he wants to be a max guy. He's putting up max guy stats for the most part. But Most of us just aren't willing to pay him max money , myself included.

Fair to me looks like what Atlanta gave John Collins in a 5/125m deal - something in that ballpark and we can get something done.

Where we can't is if he's demanding a 5 year max of ~$220. A deal like that has him earning $37.5m in year one and $51.5m in the final year.

The question is , can you build a contender around Wood at those high cap figures and will Ferntits go into the tax for a contender ?

Where do you draw the line.

never mind, small talk about Silas never a taboo here.

    ………………

silas being stuck in a 15-L big hole
    [IMG]

    me like
    [IMG]

while silas n team scrambling outta the big hole, looks comfortable in a W streak…
    [IMG]

me like…'holy cow, then what was going on there behind the curtain'

    my guess is
'someone pulling the strings, n silas is the guy doing dirty work'
    front office
    [IMG]
    silas

and when i saw you above comment (which actually quite alike my internal screaming one week ago),
me like: nah…not yet set a higher bar for this dude. Obviously coaching ain't anything close to ROCKETS science, but when a guy not only gotta do his own job but also dealing with some political things from front office (a 'top-down' structure a 'shut up and listen' boss), so, why not leave him alone give him some SPACING to maneuver…at the end of the day, rebuilding a long haul, players n coaches coming n go, only when you live with reality you will enjoy the show'.

    Reality

    Side note:
    15 Ls sucks,
i hate seeing we losing games in a disgraceful manner..during the notorious stretch, Silas acted like a fool stuck in a revolving door, everybody around knows how the door works other than him -
he stubbornly sticking to a never workable starting lineup game after game, putting wrong players on the floor at wrong time, nailing best player to the bench, timeout delayed when it matters, play the kill-joy whenever second unit on fire, turnovers mounted like players never practice, so on.
if there ever was a JD about our coach position, i believe the first things first which should be atop tasks, was to develop young players,
so, as you said, silas still got a lot of work to do, we are very carefully keeping coach Silas under scrutiny.

Agree, the extension numbers are absolutely critical, but only after he's proven he can play at this level for a full season plus.

While I think the JC Deal is a good place to start, I believe we'd still be ok with a 4 or 5 year contract averaging in the $30-$35M range. I'm not a capologist, but his extension would kick-in during the 2023-24 season after Wall's deal is gone (for sure) and we'll still have 2 years of rookie scale deals for our four #1 picks. However, the other factor will be a KPJ extension which would kick-in the same year as CWood.

I think how both these guys finish this year will be key to offseason contract negotiations. Will they answer these questions...

    - Do they establish themselves as the 5/C and 1/PG of the future?
    - Can they prove their durability/availability for a full season?
    - Where does their on-court performances slot them in the Rocket's FO for contract extensions?

The last 5 games are trending well for CWood and while KPJ has been better, he's still got a lot more room for improvement. This is absolutely something to monitor while we enjoy are gritty new mindset/team.
