Like Ryan Hollins said during the broadcast last night, Mathews has seemingly changed the entire character of this team: taking charges, scrambling and diving for loose balls, jacking up 3s with no hesitation. Clearly everyone else on the team wants to be like Garry Bird.

This is the thread we deserve.

Garrison Mathews is our modern day Matt Harping. We are the team that’s going to benefit from him the most and kick start his big pay day contracts in this league. He’s exactly the type of player you need on a championship team.

He looks like a character from the movie “Deliverance”. But, the guy can play.

Who is this guy and where did he come from? Like an angel that came from above.

I wouldn’t put it all on him. Again we are obsessed with the “one man” narrative. Rather its a combination of things:
    -Better chemistry
    -Wood playing better
    -New lineup
    -KPJ playing better
I do say that Matthews has brought a level of excitement and unpredictability reminiscent of what Gerald Green did few years back. Its awesome to see and experience this.

If that’s a compliment then thank you. If a snarky remark then it is unnecessary. Your characterization of him going so far to compare him to bird is troubling whether in jest or not.

sorry, just a tongue-in-cheek allusion to that Greatest of All ClutchFans Posters™, @DaDakota . Well known for his admiration of that Greatest of All X Factors™, Donatas Motiejunas.

honestly didn't really have anything to do with you. And the Garry Bird reference was from last night's game thread, an allusion to that Youngest of All ClutchFans™, @ThatBoyNick , who doesn't even know who Larry Bird is. I paraphrase.

    His shot is pretty consistent.

X factors are others, he is the main factor!

    Not even entirely kidding. ;)

I've adopted "G-Man" as my personal nickname for Garrison. I'm truly surprised we were able to get this kid off the waiver wire. Hope after we start trading vets we sign him to an appropriate multi-year deal. Having G-Man and Armoni gives us two guys that can light it up on any given night.

    Great thread!

This too shall pass. I’m rooting for the kid, but it also feels unlikely we stumbled into JJ Redick with high intensity D off the scrap heap.

Does anyone else remember being really excited about Khyri Thomas?
