If Stone passed on 5 late 1sts for Wood I would be upset, that is around what we got for Harden. Trading for unprotected 1sts from any team that isn't a title contender is near impossible. The best route is attempt to accumulate as many late 1st rounders a possible and package them to move up in the draft to the mid to high teens. I'm absolutely fine getting that sort of long haul asset for Wood.

Late firsts are valuable, they got us Sengun and could potentially move us up in this draft if the Lotto doesn't go our way (eg: #5 and #20 for #2).

That, and much of the same scouting staff from Morey's time remains on the team, a scouting staff that churned late firsts and early seconds into capable role players on a regular basis.

If Stone can manage to get any of Kuminga, PatWill, Moody plus picks (realistically late ones) he has to consider it.

Yeah theres already a bunch of young guys on this roster. But until you 1000% know of the guys you want as a core peice (IMO its Jalen and Sengun so far) you take swings on guys.

Would LOVE Patrick Williams on this team.

That’s true, although GSW would never do that. 1st round draft picks are good assets to have, though. Even from GSW. They are one season ending injury to Curry from being in the lottery.

I agree FRP, even late ones are valuable, but we don’t need 6 rookies from 2021 plus Wiseman.

We could hypothetically trade Wood for 2022 FRP, 2024 FRP, and 2025 FRP; the latter two picks corresponds to the years we give our pick to OKC.

    What core players?

do we even know if we have players capable of being the core of a championship team on this roster?

CF is the same place that thought we could get the 3rd or 8th pick for Westbrook…our players’ value on the trade market is always overestimated

Now a good candidate/rival offer is supposed to be Sabonis as Indy might rebuild again.

Because a poster said he wouldn't accept 5 1sts for Wood.

So much hate but Wood just plays thru injuries.

    And loves Houston.

Don't get the hostility towards him.

I don't think its so much Hate for Wood as you think ..... Its that most don't want to pay him max money.

I'm not in favor of it either .... and If you can't resign him to less than that , you might as well move him before he walks for nothing in FA.

This might be a topic for a poll - How much are you willing to pay CW in an extension.

For me that's in the 20-25m range , I just can't see a 5 year contract starting at $37.5 and going up to $51.5m in the final year.

Are you in favor of that max contract ?

I'm in favor of letting the FO deal with the financials.

Once Wall off the books, Rockets will have more than enough cap space to sign FA.

Other than an injured Dwight, which big name FA has Houston lured to the team???

Signing player with Wood's production is not as bad as many of the Chicken Littles want it to be. Much better than Ryan Anderson signing or the Dipo extension that was offered last season.

Theis is paid through 2024, that is the uglier contract IMO.

Let me rephrase the question ....

Is Christian Wood a max contract player ? Yes or No.

Al the rest of that is irrelevant.

He will not get the max.

All the max contract fearmongering is just speculation right now.

And CF likes to pick and chose what is relevant especially when it pertains to contracts.

Either it is all relevant or none of it is.
