When he comes back he should come off the bench, this starting 5 is gelling, and they are hitting their shots.....let Jalen learn against 2nd teamers get his shot more consistent and then move him into the starting lineup when we trade Gordon. DD
We are winning yes but we are on a very soft part of our schedule right now so I hope if we keep winning there is no blame on Jalen green! Taking theis out completely changed things ! We have such a bright future
Having Green out definitely helps, but I haven't given up on him yet. The talent is there and he's a good kid. All the fluffiness and extracurricular bulshit around him is irritating, but hope is he'll grow-up, man-up and focus solely on basketball.
Not stressed. Watching him before he went down and you could see him start to figure it out. His TS percentage is going up. He’s attacking and finishing with craft. Getting to the line a decent amount and has hit nearly the most 3s out of rookies. Everything I’ve seen from him leads to a comp of Levine. He’s got the same vertical pop, explosive first and second step, 3 point shot, and slight frame. They also both lack the processing to be the lead initiator. IMO that’s great. Levine is an efficient scoring freak. If green can hit that that’s a great player. Not generational but great. The next couple drafts are pivotal. He pairs well with Chet/jabari/Ivey and 2023 has some generational guys in Scoot and Wenbanyama where green pairs nicely too.
Maybe I'm the last one on Jalen Green island(and I'm fine with that if so) but I still think he has the ability to be a Beal/Lavine type of player(or better) in the next 3-4 years. I think the biggest problem for him right now is that we are seeing that the Covid influenced G-league season last year didn't really prepare him for the NBA because he only got 15 games of reps in a compressed season rather than the full 50 games of G-league years past....or for that matter the 30+ that most college players got. Not Green's fault because he certainly didn't know how the league was going to handle the pandemic but impacted him nonetheless and that disconnect is MAYBE, JUST MAYBE one of the reasons why he has started much slower than other young players. I think those writing him off at this point are assuming it's Green's fault and not realizing that he just didn't get the reps last season like most other players of his age. Give him some time - he will be fine and as others have mentioned - he has already showed a lot of growth so far this season. It just might be closer to game 50 before he gets where the rest of his peers started at. ...it's crazy how quickly the fanbase here turned on him - hell I haven't seen a single person here even asking when he is coming back. BTW, does anyone know when he is returning to the lineup? I'll be the one guy asking this I suppose.
whats his injury status? i have no idea what he'll turn into, whether they're better now cause he's out, etc. It is convenient that when Theis went out, Jalen had 11 first quarter points before his injury, and basically EVERYONE is playing better... so its probably fair to say for now that he'd be better without Theis, too, but who knows. When will he play again?
I think after the injury they said generically 'a week'...that was nearly a week ago. Haven't seen anything since.
While both the team and Jalen have been disappointing, I think the Wood/Theis lineup really dragged everyone down. I think Green is a bit more raw than I thought and some on the board thought, but his athleticism is other worldly. Also, his lack of strength is really obviously with the officiating changes. I'm still bullish on Green and he could be a Lavine/Beal/Booker type of player. It's been 5 days out the "1 week then reevaluate" so maybe we can see him against the Magic on Friday.
You were saying this weeks ago before The Streak started. You believe in mystical osmosis from the bench, based on no evidence, fine, and contrary to your prior utterings on this topic, when you insisted rookies who can't shoot SIMPLY MUST play, even on playoff teams, fine, but it's pretty funny to say he needs to sit because of his shooting due to the return of KPJ and his team-worst 36%.
People are pretending like the lineup change isnt going to benefit him as well lol Like everyone else magically got way better but Green wont. Not to mention he was having his most efficient game with that lineup until he got hurt. Anybody who says we are winning because he is out is laughable.
Its dumb to give up on a kid 1 month into the season, esp after we see James Harden's rookie season. I'm still high on Jalen Green, still would take him over Mobley and Cade in a redraft (but not over Barnes). He is a big guard and athletic af, once his body fills out he gonna be a massive force like Anthony Edwards, but hopefully with better defensive intensity.
I propose that we merge the two Jalen Green threads into one mega-thread called "The Jalen Green Experienment is Coming Over"
Guess who's back! Can't wait to see him play with more vets and more experienced teammates and after just watching what's going on and watching his own tape. Should be great, the kid obviously has magic.
He's going to feast in the open floor with his lethal first step in space. Kid brings gravity to the game. Add some outside shooting to the mix and it will further elevate his game. Should be fun!
If Green was trying to learn PG, I would be for him playing and KPJ sitting and coming off the bench. We need to also make a decision much more quickly about whether to sign KPj or let him go......and Green has 4 years under contract before a decision is made. You know better than to make these apples vs oranges comparisons..... DD
