    You're right but he is right about lack of enthusiasm among law enforcement and potential law enforcement.

    The media needs to cool down the racism talk. The country needs to.

    No this has nothing to do with race and everything to do with organized crime.

    I was clearly referring to law enforcement enthusiasm and the affects of recent criticism.

    Not these crimes

    You specifically mentioned race.

    Law enforcement isn't going to prioritize these crimes because for many reasons, including the fact that prisons are overcrowded and DA's have higher priorities. You have to tackle organized crime but let's also consider that most of the focus of these crimes are luxury goods.

    People like to blame lots of things, but one thing they aren't addressing is that cities are under extreme budgetary pressure from top to bottom, why should they prioritize helping luxury good companies stave off shrink? Most of the time, it isn't the Home Depot that is being targeted.

    If you want to end this, give states and cities back the money that was taken away from eliminating SALT deductions sucking money out of the local economy.

    @Sweet Lou 4 2

    You must be psychic. I was gonna mention how you made a false claim in a discussion we had that you saw studies showing police departments are inherently racist and you heard it from a police chief and i asked you to show where you saw that and you whined how it had been posted before and I ignored I ignored it.

    Bet you still can't find it

    Lol I started this thread about Cali looting
    And it was very obvious what items they were stealing
    @HardenVolumeOne @Os Trigonum
    It’s true the D&D never condemn crime just makes fake reasons why it’s permitted

    that’s the reason Cali is the epicenter
    They made dumb rules saying you can steal $950 worth of stuff and make it a misdemeanor that nobody prosecuted

    guess what ? It’s not the homeless people looking to rob Safeway for food who love this law

    it’s the people who want Gucci and Yeezy

    Criminals don’t care if you are black or white unlike politicians and the D&D
    That’s the great thing about them
    If you are Asian or black or Mexican and own a store selling yeezies , you’re going to get robbed
    @Os Trigonum

    oh maybe Bernie Sanders taxing Elon will help stop crime!

    F off Bernie fans, america loves Tesla and Amazon

    Personal anecdote — my car got broken into during weekend in San Francisco and a bunch of my personal belongings were stolen from the trunk. That sucked.

    back in the day, if you stole someone's horse you would get hanged

    we don't seriously punish theft any more, and this is the result

    Interesting that you pine for the days of literally strangling people to death because we couldn't afford to imprison them.

    First of all, "someone's horse" is a big ****ing deal. It's more akin to burning someone's house down than stealing some beer from a CVS.

    Second, "punishment" for theft is a matter of practicality and bandwidth. Not that law enforcement was regularly involved in petty theft to begin with, but we didn't wipe clean the laws around theft, we've run out of capacity to prosecute the crime.

    Increasing the punishment for theft ain't gonna do diddly dick to stop it. Keep the cost of goods low, keep money in people's pockets, and this goes away. Alternatively you can expand the police force to crack down on petty theft, but that's just treating the symptom and not the disease.
