Firing Silas and hiring Walton would be like waiving Jalen Green and replacing him with Anthony Lamb. Just cause you dont like someone's performance, doesn't mean you have to replace them with garbage.
Walton was given the wrong tools in both LA and Sacramento. Bad GMs to work with in both cases. Sacramento’s new GM got him fired. Probably because Walton said that he didn’t get the players he wanted and that’s not his fault. Probably forced him to draft Davion Mitchell when he knew a 6’ shooting guard was not a good choice for the NBA. Eventually, Walton would use Wood and Sengun as pass friendly bigs, teach KPJ to work screens and ball movement, bring in a true point and have the team focused on shot creation without ISO. Walton needs to be a part of a full rebuild, not just brought in to make scrubs into a playoff team. You don’t need 10+ assists from one player if you can get the entire team focused on ball movement. Jean Montero and Banchero comes in next season for our all hair all stars. We play team ball with movement. 30 and 52 in 2022-3. 41 and 41 in 2023-4. 52 and 29 2024-5.
Good coaches adapt to their personnel it's like a barber basing the hairstyle on the person not settling for a mohawk and then saying it's the customer's fault for not being to carry the hairstyle. Walton had a roster full of young athletic players like Fox, Bagley, Haliburton, Mitchell etc he should've had a run n gun offense anybody can see that instead he chose to slow things down and operate half court offense. That's like giving an 18 yr old a Karen haircut that aint gonna fly. Walton cant even determine the type of offense that suits his players the best he aint ready to be a HC in the NBA.
