White KD is giving me Shawn Bradley vibe. I see "bust" written all over ( but generally I watch very little non-NBA action, so don’t take me too seriously on that.) If our top 5 picks for two years of misery end-up being WhiteKD and Jalen Green, I’d say it wasn’t worth it…

You're acting like Wood didnt average 20/10 last season at the 5 spot.

This was no fluke.

At least admit that.

 

Suns did not become championship contender until acquiring CP3 via FA.

GSW did not take next step until acquiring Iggy via trade then became dominant after signing KD.

Philly did not become championship contender/best in East until trades for Jimmy Buckets, Tobias, Seth and Danny Green.

The draft is simply ONE way to add talent.

The best teams use ALL avenues for talent acquisition.

Right but free agents only signed there bc they built through the draft by Drafting star/superstar players. That’s the most obvious blueprint most FOs want to follow, but there’s many ways to build a championship team. Morey played chess and always extracted value from every transaction and we got harden which was great.

Um except for the number 7 pick in curry

GSW still have 3 HoF players though. They didn't rebuild but they "reloaded" is more like the word. We tried that with Morey and missed out on Leonard, Giannis, and many others. With that said this Rockets front office I trust to do the right more so than Morey was here. Morey was about proving a point and not winning.

I think it’s all about timing, can you amass talent that peaks at the right time while staying under the salary cap. Either draft talent add a superstar or have a superstar/good team and make it great by drafting great role players playing essentially for free

 

You are supposed to have a mixture of veteran and young talent...Short of OKc no one has really built exclusively through the draft.....The hope is you fill the pieces once you have your cornerstones. If you find yourself in the top lottery team 5+ years then you are not drafting right because if you were the team would not be that bad to begin with. Timing is part of it....mostly patience though. What happen with Harden likely wont happen again even if there was a star to be had no team wants to trade them to us after they feel like we fleeced Harden. When in reality we were so desperate we were willing to make the best 6th man in the world our "star" player.

 

OKC built through the draft and had to trade Harden because they couldn’t afford to pay everybody.
That happens when high drafted rookies all get their second contracts at the same time.
Just about the time everyone gets better, you have to cut costs and gut the team.
