AL East is going to be a dog fight next year. This makes me believe the Yankees will push for one of the shortstops.

$110M/5yrs is a good value for Gausman. He has ace potential and a fairly high floor. That could end up being a steal for Toronto.

Yea I thought he would get more. Good move for Toronto to replace Ray who is now most likely leaving. I hope Gausman beats the Yankees 7 times next season.

Always liked the idea if the Astros trading for him with Strommy doing strommy things...

I think the Yankees will push for him. He was on their target list at one point.

Feel like Ray is going to the Angels.

Totally agree. If I was the GM I'd have extended that offer. We'll see what happens, and not my money or my decisions. But Gausman is someone I've been high on.

I'd take a flier on him. Rumors connected him to us when Strom was here, he has a lot of untapped potential, and I really like his slider. He may not be ready by the start of the season, though.

They prefer Seager. And I’m fine with them paying him with all the holes it will keep them from addressing. Glad JV stone cold told em no.

I don't see them going after Correa.

Seattle or Detroit seem to me like a high likelihood of them signing him.

Rangers are still at least 3 star quality players (1 position player, 2 SP) away from realistically being in the playoff mix, and they’re probably 4-5 star players away from challenging the Astros for the division. Their farm isn’t terrible but it isn’t good.

Semien and Jung are good players, obviously Jung is unproven. Houston has 5-6 hitters on that level.

Lowe, Solak, Heim, Falefa, Garcia, Calhoun, and Taveras are decent complimentary players with varying levels of risk and upside. But I don’t see a single Altuve/Springer/Correa/Bregman/Tucker/Alvarez level player among that group. I see a bunch of guys in the Gurriel/Reddick/Brantley/Marisnick/Marwin tier.

Dunning is their only SP who would even be considered for a slot in Houston’s current rotation.

Other than Leiter I don’t see any surefire prospects who will take them over the top. But I guess they had to try at some point.

Today felt like NBA free agency for the MLB.
