DS9 was loosely serialized and the plight of the Bajorans was an ongoing issue. The issue of race was taken head on in a few episodes like "Far Beyond the Stars" but it was frequently in the background. It was a framing device that the Cardassians were racist (specist) towards the Bajorans and Quark brought up on a few occasions that Hoo-Mans discriminated against Ferengi.

What made DS9 great though wasn't that it couched woke ideas in great writing but that it also questioned "wokeness" including the idea that the Federation was this enlightened utopia where everyone could get along.
This is one of my all time favorite scenes in Sci Fi.

It's not a real name. Cockburn is, it's pronounced the same as Coburn.

Tried to find it but I recall a Three's Company Episode where Jack finds a vase he thinks is valuable and looks at its markings, seeing it's a Wan Tai, only to get it reversed to see Taiwan.

Tried to find it on Youtube, but couldn't.

Every time I see this topic I will continue to bring up the fact that EVERYONE loves black Nick Fury. The problem is not race swapping or gender swapping. You just have to bring interesting characters and stories to the public and they will likely enjoy it.

When you give people boring stories they will reject it and it has nothing to do with identity.

I think this is more about Feige being in over his head and thinking he can make smaller marvel comics stories huge movie franchises. They seem to have this perception that since the general public weren't as aware of the ironman and avengers history and that grew that they can make anything popular. The truth is those stories had already captivated another audience in the comic book world so you know you're on to something. If he focuses on the women and minority characters that did well in comics (along with other popular white male characters) the franchise will continue to be successful.

How the hell did that Spiderman movie make that much money?

I thought it was one of the worst superhero movie ever made.

Pretty sure Spider-Man is among the most recognizable superheroes on the planet. As for quality of the MCU, I think to non fanboys, they are all pretty much the exact same quality with a couple exceptions

The jar jar sucked but it was more cohesive than the new ones which were obviously winging it like the Rockets on any given offensive possession
It was well documented they were winging it with multiple directors like ad libs
They brought the emperor back for no reason

That does not explain why this Spiderman is that high, there are better Spidey movies and I am no MCU fanboy but it's just false that this movie was anywhere near average quality.

It was bottom 10 if not bottom 5 some of the old X men were better.

    I like Shang Chi
However that last half was tailor made for the Chinese audience .
If it wasn’t then they would have used a Game of a thrones dragon instead of the fortune cookie hororscope dragon.
They weren’t wearing red because they were all Rockets fans too

The main character and his family are from China. The mythology is supposed to be Chinese. I don’t see it as woke at all.

Not woke but appealing to China.
This was made to make big bucks in China but it was banned because Chinese censors don’t like the director or something

    CHINA
Marvel's 'Shang-Chi' was made with China in mind. Here's why Beijing doesn't like it.

"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is the latest movie to run into trouble in the country as nationalism and U.S.-China tensions rise.
