The only for sure player to start is Sengun. I don’t care if they roll out JC Augustin Tate and Martin with him. Just get my man Al-P up in that starting lineup
I cant even with a straight face answer this question. Sengun makes both Wood and Theis pointless. Ideally it'd be KPJ/Green/KMJ/Garuba/Sengun. And both Theis and Wood would be gone and we get a 7 footer that can shoot. What's Mehmet Ohkur up to these days?
Gordon Green KJ Sengun Wood DJ Green KJ Tate Wood Gambling line up for energy scoring punch. DJ Brooks Mathews KJ Sengun
Augustine should be the starting PG. He creates better plays and space well to set up other players and I think Green might even play better with him on the court. And KPJ is not a pure PG. My starting 5 would be: Augustine KPJ or Ego Green Sengun or KMJ Wood
agree and sad at the same time. Imagine if we had Rubio. I’m down for a dragic for Gordon trade. Kpj is not a pg.
Am I the only one who thinks starters don't matter as much as Its who gets the meaningful minutes or (if we are lucky) crunchtime to close out games. This is where experience and growth will be achieved. wood and gordon are shoe-ins ---- we better put either Alpy or Kmart in that frontline (or both - if silas smartens up), and a toss up between KPJ and Jalen. These are the people we should be worried about getting lion's share of the PT. After we trade either wood or gordon --- then lobbying for Christopher minutes should get more traction.
Food for thought? A snapshot of the current top ten in net rating among 3 man lineups with 48 minutes or more together. Only a few positive values, and here they are. (From the nba.com stats page.) (Out of 35 different lineups that played together 48 minute)
So to get analytical af now, that's 7 appearances there for EG, 6 for KPJ, 5 for Sengun, 3 for KJ (2 of which are with starting caliber players), 2 for Wood, Tate and Green... 1 for Theis... I guess if you play enough minutes you can barely sneak into the top ten... *insert Dave Fizdale gif
Here's the same thing for 5 man lineups. 17 different lineups have played together 8 minutes or more, with 7 having positive net ratings... this is the top of the list. Only 6 lineups have played 20 minutes or more together. The most played has 160 minutes, the next most has 49. That lineup with 160 minutes (Wood, Theis, KPJ, Green and Tate) has a net rating of -26.5. The one at 49 minutes is worse, at -36.8 (that's Gordon, Wood, Theis, Green, and Tate). Gordon, Wood, Porter, Green, and Tate seem to me to be the outlier in terms of having played more minutes (39) PLUS having a solid net rating, Lots of evidence out there for folks arguing to start Gordon to help us keep from digging first quarter holes. Evidence for all of us in Sengun Nation too. KPJ actually looks better than you might expect(?). Theis less so. *shrug... I know it's all very limited and out of context, but it's interesting... For instance, a 21.7 drop in net rating just from taking out Tate and putting in Theis, in that Gordon, Wood, Porter, Green lineup (!)
I want to see how EG, KPJ, Sengun and Martin play together -- gonna go look at 4 man lineups now... Here we go -- only 22 mimutes played together, and a very solid net rating of 12..8 KJ and Sengun have their fingerprints all over the top of those lists...
Who knows either give him minutes here or go to RGV to find out. He is not ready to start at either position.
