Who? Which team can match it without giving up their main players? I'm not talking generally I'm asking you directly who can make the trade? It's not possible, that trade doesn't exist anywhere. You're all deluding yourselves that his expiring contract is worth more than the players who make their team good, which is what they'd have to give up in order to trade for Wall from us. You can't just throw loads of scrubs together to make the contract work, we can't take in 4/5 players, we don't have the space.
You speak as if the the rockets roster today is going to be the same roster a year from now. EG probably won't be here by then. House won't be here. Augustin won't be here. Wood is probably traded too before letting him just walk in free agency. This isn't a guaranteed full roster next year by any means. There's nothing to delude. It's just a fact that a expiring deal is something plenty of teams see value in, especially when they themselves can benefit from it when it comes off the books in a few months
I have actually thought of this as well. Lose as many games now so they are deep in a hole but can market that the team is starting to gel at the end of the season and still potentially grab that #1 pick. Leave the fans on a high note. I think if we do end up with another super high pick, Silas will be gone in the off-season and they will want a proven coach to develop the team going forward.
John Wall might as well have a Margarita and some wings on the bench since the Rockets are basically giving him season long courtside tickets
You're missing the point entirely, whilst there is value in an expiring contract, 47m is not an easy thing to trade for without gutting your roster. You're arguing with vague hypotheticals, look at the math. Nobody is trading for that contract next year, it'd be a terrible move to do so for the teams that could even try it. Most teams couldn't even try to trade for it without giving up their actual pieces. Are you even aware of what most players earn? You're never going to match that contract with just your scrubs, you're sacrificing your actual players.
you don't need to gut the roster when a number of guys probably won't even be here. ok lets tip jar bet then. At some point wall gets traded before next season. Since you're apparently thinking it's just not happening and impossible while I easily see it happening
there is no chess being played here…not even Connect Four the Rockets are just sewage…this suck is pure and authentic
Silly comment. If Stone could find a trade partner he would already be gone. Nobody is going to trade for him unless we give them a first and what reason would the Rockets do this, since they will not be signing a max player next year.
That should be the ultimatum next year, not this year. We have our own pick and do not need to win games by playing Wall. Once we have our draft pick then playing Wall might be a net positive, but only if Silas’ has the balls to sit him if he plays for stats and not team.
what's so hard about this....the moment he dresses and gets injured we're screwed, and his already "questionable" value diminishes. Sit em and wait for someone to bite this offseason (due to his expiring contract). Dude's already injury prone - why take the risk and have him play on a squad that's clearly tanking.
I didn't think there was any malice or rocka-awkwardness behind the tweets. He was just embarrassed about being called out like that and felt he had to set the record straight. The only thing is he does have control over it, take less money and get cut.
