Kids watched this last night and they loved it. They did a lot of little throwback jokes to the original.
I think people are taking this way too seriously. It’s made for Disney Plus, not for an Oscar. PS I think the Max kid is a turd.
I get that it's not masterpiece theater but the original was both liked by kids and adults and it made Macauley Culkin a superstar. Loved by everyone. This new version looks like aids and everybody hates it.
I can't think of a modern movie in today's age where it made someone into a mega superstar. This ain't the 90s no more. These tik tok clowns are more famous now. Cinema is dead folks.
It won't be dead but it might fade a tad out of the mainstream now that those kids are on tik tok. There are tons of people and tons of countries on this planet that watch movies.
I had never thought of this until today, but like baseball cards, what if hollywood just shot a variation movie with a different actor at the same time. Just to see how different it might be. So you might get the matrix with Keannu, and the Matrix with Will Smith, all filmed at the same time. So then you would make money on the director's cut, but also have an actors cut with some nuance you could share 10 years later. And sell those as NFT's too. It could also act as insurance for another pandemic period when no new films can be made.
My thoughts exactly. I thought the premise was stupid, having likable "villians" who were trying to just get back something they thought the kid had stolen. But there were some funny parts in the film. I couldn't sit through Home Alone 3, but I was able to sit through this one with the wife and daughter....I also didn't even know all those other ones existed (from the youtube video posted above)
I love this idea but would want something really different, like Harvey Keitel as Neo or Megan Thee Stallion as the main in Steel Magnolias.
