I think so. Season 2 was probably the best. There’s Narcos and Narcos Mexico. I haven’t watched the original Narcos which dealt with Columbia but I’m going to get to it.
I could see that but I liked it. The third season was more sprawling and didn’t focus so much on a single character like season 2. I liked Amado Fuentes though.
This season had too many plot lines in my opinion. The Victor plot didn't pay off. Too much time was spent on La Voz, I get they were trying to use it to narrate but the narrations by the US agents in other seasons gave plenty of context. Amado's plot was too disconnected from the Sinaloa vs. Tijuana. Breslin's love life didn't amount to much either.
Currently watching Succession, Murders in the Building and Killing Eve. Succession is ok, not mind-blowing. Only on S1. Murders is fun if you like those types of shows. Fully caught up with Killing Eve. Definitely has some endings that can make it bingable, but the last season ended with a thud. On the Richter Scale of Reviews: Succession: 7.3 Murders: 8.2 Eve: 7.7
Spoiler Found it surprising that they did not go with exploring hell and demons but was more about religious nut cases. (IRL religious groups carrying Covid)
Spoiler The show is not perfect. Some of the villains (religious cult) was a bit one dimensional. While I appreciate the motifs the show is trying to convey (social media, mob mentality, fear of the unknown), the way everyone just put their regular beliefs and morals aside was a bit too convenient for the plot. I guess I needed more build up. Or better explanation why the law (police, even army) was not there to restore order. For the monsters or the Arrowhead gang. That said, the premise kept my attention, as I wanted to find out what was causing the whole thing.
Spoiler I knew they would want to save the newborn. To save it all up for Season 2 and 3 is a tad too convenient as you said it. My gripe was that you should at least feed us with some background info about what was going on. I am pretty sure there is a scale of measurement who goes thru the Pearly Gates and who goes to Hell. And that the Messenger of Death could be wrong and determine what the consequences of getting the wrong people are....... (maybe that is the end of Episode 6)
