Beagles and retrievers are often used in scientific research. There are 43,000 dogs being used for research right now in the US. Texas A&M has a couple of hundred. I love dogs and it sucks that dogs are used for research, but I understand the necessity of it. Unless you go straight from rat testing to human testing, some medium and large size animals will be sacrificed for science. Should I say that Abbott is killing puppies because a public institution like Texas A&M experimented on dogs?

Not puppies. Don't see any mention of the dogs being killed after either. Perhaps that's standard practice with these sort of experiments. As unsettling as it is for dog-lovers, these animals are bred specifically for this purpose. I'm curious if OP would express the same outrage for farm animals being slaughtered in far less humane conditions and far less noble purposes, and if so who he'd blame for that.
