Just when I thought the Repugs couldnt stoop any lower I watched them try to defend his actions, I especially liked the guy who told us he lived in Japan, could speak Japanese and then started speaking Japanese and told us its just animation and no big deal, its done all the time..........what? A toon depicting an acting member of congress killing a colleague is normal?? I will no longer say I am shocked about anything these idiots do............stay classy MGT
Did it surprise you that the very worst congressmen (mgt, boebert, gaetz, jordan) were the most vocal in their support of gosar?
The person behind him, likely a member of his staff? She's looking at him like she's thinking, "I can't believe I'm actually working for this clown. I really need to update my resumé."
What Gosar did was very low class and likely lead to firing at any other workplace. What to me though is far more concerning is how they Republican caucus is seeking to punish it's own members who voted for the Bipartisan infrastructure bill. As Kinzinger noted this is something that 19 of their Senate colleagues including the McConnell supported and an issue that Trump had pushed during his Presidency. To me that is far more of a sign of party over country than Gosar's doctored anime.
Because I'm already on the page that today's Republican party is 'party over Country', that didn't move the needle for me. I'm more concerned about the transition to violence as legitimate and even honored. There is an article out today in the Atlantic about lawless masculinity that isn't really about this but it touched on the violence. What I witness in 2021 is the transition from excusing 1/6 to actively supporting 1/6. Violent threats at school boards and the pushback by Republicans and the base against efforts to stop it. Violence video depiction by congressmen isn't new, so not too surprising. A guy killed 2 and he's a hero to the base and a few congressmen. The call of these Republicans as traitors by Republican congressmen led to the threat of violence by the base. That is what is concerning to me. The transition to normalization of violence threats and violent acts.
I agree that is concerning but infrastructure is something that they know is good for the country and will help their constituents. That Republicans who voted for it are being threatened with expulsion form the party or worse shows how far the party has fallen. And yes that violence is being threatened towards Republican reps that voted for the bill is part of the danger.
Republican Party is in the CatBird Seat. The Democrats are crumbling and allow any and everything It is all a big ole dog and pony show Rocket River
I don't know if this is a bit but considering the House just passed a major part of the Democratic platform today I don't think the party is falling apart as much as you think it is. If anything they've shown more unity in the last couple of weeks than they have for much of Biden's Presidency.
