It's so weird how we're not even 15 games into the season and you guys can't seem to remember the logic in not playing Wall. Hell, you can't even seem to remember that you probably didn't want Wall to play this season either. I can't remember ANYBODY advocating for Tank Commander Wall to play before the season began. The talk was exclusively "How can we be rid of him?". Anyway, for those of you who can't seem to remember: https://www.si.com/nba/2021/09/14/john-wall-sit-out-rockets-find-trade-partner HE DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY HERE!
I think everyone wants him out, but if he isn't going out, can we at least use some of his on-the-court leadership? Priorities... 1. Trade Wall, if not go to step 2 2. Play Wall
We all thought KPJ would take a leap or atleast look the same as last year. He's regressed. At this point since we're losing anyway it would be better to have a steady hand at point so the guys can get better shots.
Wall needs to play and start at PG, destroy the "Porter at Point Guard Experiment" and put Porter at SF. Keep Wall at PG until the trade deadline someone will trade for him(career average 19.1 a game and around 9 rebounds a game as well.) Also, trade Gordon for a Point Guard and a BIG MAn
Watch the games he played in last year and it'll all make perfect sense. Not highlights, the whole games. 1. We will not win more games with Wall. You don't have to worry about him affecting our lottery chances. 2. He won't improve his trade value by playing. If anything it'll just validate the current sentiment that he's worthless. To improve his value, he'd have to play well but he's incapable of doing that. Has House's value improved? 3. He will NOT improve the flow of the offense and set the other guys up. All he'll do is shoot pull-ups and miss most of those pull-ups. 4. Having a massive blackhole mega ballhog is the worst thing for developing young guys. Not only does it take the ball out of their hands but it also encourages bad behavior. 5. Get prime Washington Wall out of your heads. He's dead. Wall hasn't played good basketball in 4 years at this point. He's as washed as Dirk or Dwyane Wade.
No.....Beyond that simple fact. I don't think he wants too play, and after everything Rockets took on a loss just because Westbrook wanted out. They are looking to buy him out when at a reasonable price, or at least very good player/s and some first and 2nd rounds . No one wants to give up anything so he sits. Which is PERFECT. People fail to realize even if John Wall played we would not be winning, and the wins he would provide would be counter productive for us. I don't know about you but I Am tired of 14/15 selections in the 1st round. Hovering right at or above .500. It's pointless.
We aren't aiming for a team to be good this year or even next year. Think about the logic of what you are stating from that perspective.
If it would help Green's development, I'm all for it. Green is not going to develop his game and may actually be regressing with KPJ running the point.
Stone is tanking full steam, it's pretty clear. It's the only reason why Silas hasn't been forced to start Sengun and why Wall can sit the entire season.
Here I am the person that wanted Wall to play. One of three things can happen. All of which help the team. 1 he helps the development 2 he ups his value 3 he quits —> breaches his contract—> adds to the drama then pushes for a trade —> our answer would be restructuring your contract is the only way
No. Jalen Green is a far better tank commander. He could lead the Rockets to the worst ever record all by himself
You forgot these possibilities: 1. he hurts the development and completely eliminates the room for Josh Christopher to get any minutes at all. 2. he hurts his value/hurts himself
I personally don’t want to watch Wall chuck 18-20 shots a game again in an attempt to prove his worth to a contender. But If he shifts to a floor general role and makes things easier for Green and KP im all for it. He would have to change his mindset like Melo eventually did.
I am with you. I'd really rather he never play another game in a Rockets uniform. Personally, I wish we would have just kept Russell Westbrook and waited until we got a decent haul or let him rot.
