Happened on Trumps watch bro…..Not to mention the trade war which increased input costs while limiting trade partners.

Maybe if Trump paid more taxes to American than China I’d be more sympathetic …

It is complicated and honestly know one knows the long term effects. We know that there are negative ones in that in some cases there is a dependency on government help, there are sometimes criminal backgrounds unknown (although this has been shown to be small) and we know in some cases people that live in the USA do not having a large group of people from a different background move into an area and it can impact property values. However we also know that it can be quite beneficial from the standpoint of providing cheaper labor, it can result in a more diverse culture and ultimately in almost all cases the new group blends into society.

Should every single person that wants to enter the USA all at once? No, probably not. In the short term it would be terrible and not popular. What about in the long term? Harder to say, although there is some data that shows it improves the USA.

It was only 100 years ago people were upset with the Italians that flooded the USA in huge numbers, many of them illegally. A decent amount of them were anarchists or did not believe in the idea of a US government. Some of them even avoided military service in WWI and WWII. Many never learned English, crime rates were high and they brought the mafia with them. If you were to speak to many Americans between 1890 and 1960, they would not be happy with the flood of Italians that refused to blend into the US landscape.... then something happened, their children and grandchildren were different, and they often married and bred with noon Italians.

The same story exists for the Irish and a number of other groups.

So I suppose it depends on whether you take a short or long term snapshot of it....... but what is happening now is not unique to American history.

It’s the second and third generation immigrants that end up contributing the most. No one complains about greasy Italians anymore… now it’s greasy Mexicans…. Or if you are my east Texas family….it’s the Indians who own the stores, hotels, and are doing better than the white folks in school.

The larger issue is how the entire economic system is setup. The amount of government dollars going towards retired people is staggering and the boomers haven’t even retired in mass yet….

Don't be mad that the Shale boom occurred under Obama. Who do you think permitted all those LNG facilities and refinery expansions?

Typical liberal headline reader with lack of critical thinking or comprehension. Very simplistic "well this happened during so and so's term so that means he gets credit/blame" I hope you keep this same energy with Biden and all the supply chain, immigration, inflation, gas and grocery price squeezing adn middle class crushing that is going on right now. Let me guess, you look to previous terms only for the bad stuff but current terms for good stuff. Got it.

classic move, when inflation is rampant, blame oil companies for price gouging

Since when is deflation a prudent economic policy?

Do you think the children of illegals do not go on to buy houses and become just like the children of legal immigrants?

How does that disprove the Shale boom occurred under Obama?

Was a lot of domestic production coming from shale pre 2008? No. Whoops!

Your boy Trump started a trade war and reduced immigration, you want to reverse that to reduce inflation?

If he gets "build back better" through and it tames inflation then the dems will be in good shape in 2022.

Soviet-style price controls are a terrible way to control inflation.

I am of two minds. More money printing only hastens the collapse and we can build anew on a bitcoin standard.

Might as well get on with it since it is inevitable, they won't be able to stop printing. But it will be painful in the near term for those who don't have bitcoin.
