Like I said, fewer people with guns in the area would have prevented deaths. Too bad so many folks were there with guns
Being home, or even staying at the business he was supposedly there to protect, or just about any other place without an assault rifle.
He'll walk. The right will make a hero out of him (and he will make a few dollars along the way). And more people will carry guns in places they shouldn't. Win win for right wingers...
Which of the people there was working for the state? It doesn't matter what religion the people shot were. I'm not sure why you brought that up.
Grosskruetz wasn't a felon. You better start getting your information from someplace more reliable than social media. Please don't spread those lies here.
So what you're saying is he shouldn't have been drunk in that situation and shouldn't have been wearing that dress AR-15.
I was actually quite clear in my answer. You resort to an inaccurate, and offensively unfunny analogy (unless you are implying that rittenhouse was raped so he shot three people).
Everyone has said a lot of shoulda/coulda/woulda to change what happened, but none if it means Rittenhouse is guilty of doing anything illegal. And for all we know, Rosenbaum may have wanted to rape Rittenhouse. Nobody has been in Rosenbaum's mind to know what he was thinking.
Rittenhouse can be a despicable person with terrible beliefs. He could have been irresponsible and foolish to attend a protest while openly carrying a scary gun. Maybe if he thinks he needs a gun like that to protect himself from protesters, he shouldn’t have been there in the first place? Anyway, none of that matters to this case. The jury is supposed to decide whether the shots he took fall under legitimate self-defense. No one there knew whether he crossed state lines, so that detail should be irrelevant. The chain of events that are actually relevant to the shootings start with Rosenbaum’s decision to chase after Rittenhouse with another protester cheering him by threateningly firing a gun in the air. The prosecution alleges that Rittenhouse threatened Rosenbaum by deliberately pointing his gun at him. That’s fair for the jury to consider. But it’s hard to convict based on a single still image. Minus that, it’s clear that Rosenbaum and his gun-carrying accomplice instigated the chain of events. Rittenhouse was reasonable to think his life was in danger at that point, and therefore had a right to defend himself. The jury has to decide if the way he did so was excessive.
Morning Joe MSNBC also dropped this lie. He said Rittenhouse fired 60 rounds that night. Rittenhouse’s rifle only has a 30 round magazine, and on that night, he fired a total of 8 shots. These lying media demons are why America is going up in flames.
A question that I wondered myself. For a starter, lying to the police, possession of an illegal firearm, pointing a gun at someone with ill intent.
I think all of this is fair. But the issue is the implications nationally that will follow if he's found not guilty and glorified like a superhero. I think people don't really even realize how lax our gun laws really are, and coming out of this, right wing vigilante hate groups are going to really have a field day. Any peaceful protest on an issue like Climate, race, etc. is definitely going to run into a buzz saw moving forward imo if they aren't already. It also further softens the right on justifying violence for their cause. The injection of violent rhetoric is already a thing now in even the leave it to beaver parts of America. School board meetings, etc. The violent rhetoric from propaganda, mixed with the continued bastardization of the 2nd amendment by the right wing courts is a cocktail for societal collapse. In normal times, a Kyle Rittenhouse being shown some mercy, and just having some lighter charges on illegal possession, etc. would be warranted, but right now I'm concerned about what it means when the justice "system" turns him into a right wing superhero.
I think the right has issue with protestors getting a pass for being an unruly mob. I can see both sides. I think when protesting turns into rioting, trespassing and looting, people should get prosecuted and possibly shot, and I think people should be looking for a fight with firearms from either side.
rumors of Brady violations this morning, among other things sounds like the prosecution had access to high res drone video and didn't make it available is what I can gather
