Points of contention: 1. No racist is irredeemable. Often merely exposure to whom they are racist towards with meaningful relationships can solve most racist mindsets. 2. The totality of the modern right expressed around the world currently is centered around ethnic nationalism. I'm not speaking of people who are merely conservative. I'm referring to people who label themselves as "right wing". The core premise of the modern right is basically a through line that points make to early strains of American fascism in the 1920s with Americans sympathetic to the rising fascist sentiments in places like Weimar Germany before it fell to the Nazis. I get it. We don't want to be seen as the side that broad brushes an entire group as "all racist". But in this case, the vast majority of the modern right is racist and ethnic nationalists. You even see the same slogans by 20th century fascists like Charles Lindbergh such as "America First" being repeated today. "Cultural Marxism" is another boogyman term used by the right that Nazis used to label anyone opposing them ideologically.
Any chance the jury gives into pressure and finds him guilty? Would we the people, who stand for justice and the 2nd amendment start rioting?
If that’s all true, why should a hand gesture have any further significance? What makes a large percentage of right wingers white nationalists, in your view, is the political platform they support that you think upholds white supremacy in our society. The hand gesture itself is meaningless when weighed against that.
The socioeconomic status of most people on that side of the ideology are far higher than the side that protests and riots things like policy brutality on Black urban youth. So the odds of rioting are significantly less if that is the case.
I think the modern right plays coy with their ethnic nationalist leanings. They know outright admittance to white nationalism won't win over the moderate suburban types. So they play these stupid games about how they aren't racist because they have black friends.
What is the point of having the means and resources without the freedoms and God inalienable rights? When they start taking away your freedoms, sooner than later your possessions will follow.
I'm sure families that don't have means and resources wish they did have means and resources. Anyways my point is the point MLK was trying to make when he said "riots are the language of the unheard". White conservatives aren't unheard. They are overrepresented in almost every aspect of American society except probably higher education. Statistically they are far wealthier than groups looked urban black folks. They means they have more to lose and are less likely to riot for their causes unless they believe democracy has ended and that our elections are fraudulent.
Except you and they have mislabeled him as an active shooter. You cannot make that assumption that he's an active shooter based upon a crowd yelling. If they really thought he was an active shooter , there's no way they would have engaged him. LoL @ Grosskreutz is a hero .... Grosskreutz is a moron of the highest order.
In my opinion, Rittenhouse showed fairly good restraint on when he used his firearm. There's been no evidence that night of Rittenhouse using the weapon to prevent loss of property or threaten any rioters. The only time he fired the weapon was when he was being assaulted by Rosenbaum, jump kick guy, Huber, and Grosskreutz. The fact that Rittenhouse didn't fire on Grosskreutz until Grosskreutz pointed his handgun at Rittenhouse strengthen's Rittenhouse's restraint.
I'm not referring to justification to defend himself in that situation. I'm more referring to him placing himself in that situation. At his age he should be studying for a Calculus exam, not roaming the street LARPing because he got brainwashed by right wing media. Someone irresponsible can also place themselves in these your of situations when they didn't need to be in those type of situations
I don't think he should have been there, but this is what happens when everyone has a gun. There is no way to determine who started what. they are all at fault to some level.
I have many memorable moments in this trial courtesy of the Keystone Cops prosecution side. The pointing of the rifle at the jurors is right up there, but my favorite is the one from Capt Binger, when he told the jury that Rittenhouse chased down Rosenbaum and shot him in the back. The jury still awaits for proof. Bwahaha.
Generally, the left is more racist than the right. They just dont acknowledge it while pushing it nonstop.
Again, you are trying suggest that in the presence of supportive members of the Proud Boys in a bar he was trying to trigger or jokingly use a hand gesture used by white nationalists on the outside chance that "left wingers" would see security camera footage from the bar he was at while on bail? Or... is it more likely he found himself in the presence of Proud Boy members who were making him feel supported, and he wanted to show he was one of them? Again, I think the second possibility is much more likely. But then again, I am not elevating rittenhouse to hero status, so my "left winger" tendencies are likely being triggered...
This is not a serious opinion. The right want to hang the blacks from the trees. The left are racists too, just way more subtle, which makes it a gillion times worse.
