Richards also said that Rittenhouse is “not currently and has not ever been a member of any of the organizations the State lists in its motion.” Richards said that prosecutors who have searched Rittenhouse’s social media have not found any information linking Rittenhouse to the white supremacy groups. https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/...r-teen-seen-at-bar-flashing-white-power-sign/
So... he wasn't an active member of a group, just hung around with some at a bar while on bail flashing the white nationalist sign. Thanks for clearing that up.
I agree that it was the correct move to not shoot Rittenhouse. But if there is an active shooter in a crowd of people and Grosskreutz was willing to put himself in harms way to intervene, that's different than planning to go a trouble site to provide untrained security with a gun. In the heat of the moment he saw an armed person in the area where he believed an active shooter was targeting folks. He moved to stop that. He didn't shoot probably because of the reasons that you said. He didn't witness Rittenhouse shooting. Sadly, he was shot. Rittenhouse helped put out a fire in a dumpster. I don't know that prevented anything with all of the other people also there. There were other armed people there as well helping to put out the fire in the dumpster. I'm all for business owners protecting their property. I do think there's a better way to do it other than showing up with guns. That reeks of people with a goal of teaching a lesson to other people and showing them a thing or two. That is unwise and leads to problems. We have seen that. It leads to problems and in this case contributed to the death of two people. Their behavior certainly deserves to be blamed and they are responsible for their horrible actions and assault. Once the trouble started, Rittenhouse may well have acted in self defense. But the trouble wouldn't have started if Rittenhouse hadn't been there in the first place.
To you every whitey is a white supremacist. Please tell us your color so we can slander you. Not all blacks are criminals. Not all white are racists. Not all Asians are bad drivers.....hmm, maybe.
Also, for better or worse, his Runaway Jury comment was due to that being one of my favorite movies. It's the one I don't scroll past when seeing it on. (Along with Pineapple Express)
Anti-Defamation League: Has the simple thumb-and-forefinger 'OK' hand gesture become a common white supremacist hand sign? Not quite, but it has become a popular gesture used by people across several segments of the right and far right—including some actual white supremacists—who generally use it to trigger reactions. [...] Only if the gesture occurs in context with other clear indicators of white supremacy can one draw that conclusion.[70]
I was interested to see this morning that Andrew Branca didn't think very highly of the defense's closing argument
I see poll after poll from different legal channels saying not guilty in the low 90s and high 80s. Brace yourselves for some good ole rioting.
So... at best you are describing this 17 year old high school drop-out who hasn't demonstrated a great deal of intelligence as being at best a right-wing or far right wing who was using the hand symbol to cleverly trigger people? Or that he was among white nationalists (Proud Boys) that he he was hoping to impress and feel a sense of belonging by giving a racist hand symbol? Which one do you think was more likely?
You might find this hard to believe, but in rural areas dads teach their kids, both boys and girls how to handle/shoot guns at a young age. Atleast that's what my step father did with me and my friends dads did with them. Sounds like that's what happened with Rittenhouse and he obviously knew how to use the gun he shot those thugs with.
Learning to operate a gun is extremely easy. You can literally train a monkey to do it. That isn't the issue. The issue is having the mental maturity to have restraint with it and knowing when to use it. Rittenhouse given his life choices up to this point shows immaturity and incompetence such as dropping out of high school along with aggressive behavior when he was at school to the point where classmates of his labeled him as "the next school shooter". People aren't worried about kids like Rittenhouse negligent discharging. They are worried about a lack of maturity and empathy to know when to use a firearm. Teaching how to use firearms.is very different than teaching when it's appropriate.l to use firearms.
Nope he was part of the mob chasing down Rittenhouse. Truth is if you dont want trouble dont start trouble. These thugs started trouble and paid the price for their decisions.
Given Rittenhouse's life up to this point, I would label him a thug also. Sucker punches females in the back of heads, drops out of high school, classmates comment on how aggressive and confrontational he is....
He was. So what. A mob using their superior numbers to chase down an active shooter is a good thing and not a bad thing.
I don’t know what is in his mind when he did that. The origin of this hand symbol was a joke to trigger people, and I think a large percentage of right wingers use it in that spirit, while a lot of left wingers choose to interpret it as a signal of white nationalism because it gives them comfort to portray their ideological adversaries as irredeemable racists.
