Honestly, he's still probably the coach if he didn't stand up for the players initially in the whole singing-the-eyes-of-texas controversy. The rich and influential alumni weren't a fan of that.
Yeah, I could definitely see that. Can't say I envy anybody having to deal with that situation from a leadership standpoint. What a mess.
I wonder how people will feel if Bijan transfers. If he’s not on board with Sark, then I guess it would be a net benefit. It’ll be an interesting offseason. Hopefully we bring in a strong recruitment class.
The system is proven for Bijan and think Sark can sell him on an improved OL. As far as recruiting, holding onto this current class would be a huge win all things considered. Bo Davis has done a tremendous job with 6 commits on the DL which we need. Unfortunately things aren't going nearly as well on the other side and four of our top OL targets were all in attendance this past weekend. The portal is going to be huge this offseason.
LOSER DNA has permeated the 40 Acres for a long time. But, it only seems to hit the really big sports (Football, Men's basketball)
As in, I think that the people inside the athletics compounded are living off the past when it comes to our football and men's basketball teams. The last ten years have been ugly. I think there's an air of entitlement that hangs over both of those programs. Meanwhile, most (if not all) of the programs that those two subsidize have been thriving over that same time period (hence my "UT is a volleyball school" declaration).
You know, Tom Herman's problem was one of trust, he just didn't trust anyone else on the sidelines with him - I believe he will grow into a much better coach over time, he will get thicker skin and be able to weather the outside vibes..... Tom Herman, while not perfect, would not be sitting with a 5 game losing streak right now...... DD
As in, players come in and think they’re hot stuff when they haven’t done anything. They may be “five-star” recruits, but they have to prove it on the college field. And, the boosters think that they can just throw a bunch of money at any hot coaching hire and think it’s gonna work quickly. “It’s UT!!” they chant.
It's revisionist history to suggest that Mack was still giving it his all after 2010. He had clearly lost a step in his recruiting and preparation, tried to turn Garrett Gilbert into a pro-style QB, and was too loyal to assistants who were getting clowned (see: BYU games, Greg Davis, etc.). It'd be a different story if UNC Mack had shown up after the BCS championship game, but that's not who he was at that time.
