What are you talking about? I don't think anyone claimed all protesters were peaceful. Had Rittenhouse not traveled there with a drawn gun, he would also still be alive. But so would two other people. The property he was supposedly there to protect, would still be the exact same as it is now.
In this case , the letter of the law came about when they measured the weapon and found it within legal parameters for a minor to be carrying. It was proven otherwise the prosecution wouldn't have let it go.
I think there's a line where property is more valuable than life. That line certainly varies from one person to another. That line gets more blurred when you're protecting the property of others. Rittenhouse also has strong ties to Kenosha. The notion that Rittenhouse shouldn't be there as it wasn't his community has long been debunked.
Again his original story was he went there to protect that business, despite not being trained on weapons nor trained as security. Still, if he stayed there he would have come into contact with rioters. Then his movements showed he didn’t stay at the business so his reason for being amongst rioters was he was giving out water and providing medical aid despite not being trained as a paramedic. but regardless if he didn’t have someone buy the assault rifle that he legally could not, if he didn’t travel from Illinois to Wisconsin to be there with the assault rifle, and if he didn’t leave the business he went there to “protect” he wouldn’t have shot three people and killed two.
