I'm glad to see that the vast majority of folks here understand this kid wasn't a deviant murderer. As to those who say he was stupid to even go there? It's always easier to stay at home and hope it all goes away. It never does.
Defending ones self and property is very helpful. bottom line is these guys got what they deserved. Ibet the guy that lived will never be pulling that **** again. Mission accomplished Rittenhouse survived and the guys that started this didn't. Hope this happens all over America. To quote a Texans owner, this is what happens when you let the inmates run the asylum. There will be death and bloodshed from both sides. This is just a case of people waking up and taking control of their lives/property. About time IMHO
I had a gun pulled on me in Bacliff at a college graduation party a few months ago actually. It was better that I didn’t have a weapon on me, guy was drunk and it would have just made everything go to ****. I made a joke, didn’t land, gun to my stomach. Stayed calm and others at the party were able to get the guy to calm down. I decided I should leave after that. Apparently someone fired some shots in the air later that night and the cops showed up around 3am.
It must suck that the only view on the world you have is thru the prism of hate and race .... I really feel sorry for you.
He testified that he was putting out fires with a fire extinguisher and helping give aid to people at the scene. Maybe that’s not true, but that’s his story. Was it disproven?
Rittenhouse made a wise decision, he's still alive. Funny how your defending a bunch of unpeaceful protestors. I thought all of the protestors were peaceful? I bet they became peaceful after Rittenhouse got through with them. I'm guessing protests are a lot more peaceful in Kenosha, Wisconsin these days.
From what I've seen he was woefully unprepared to give out aid. As someone who did give out aid during the George Floyd protest I carried hundreds of dollars worth of basic first aid material. I worked with a group of people who were EMT's, doctors, nurses and combat medics who were donating their time. More importantly I wasn't open carrying a firearm and wore high visibility gear clearly identifying that I was there to provide aid. When I went out to help with cleaning up following the destruction I carried a broom and a shovel instead of a firearm.
Which charge would you convict him on? I honestly think there is a chance he gets convicted. Stranger things have happened and this jury has a lot of pressure to convict to avoid leftist riots.
If their are leftist rioters committing crimes I hope 10,000 Rittenhouse's show up to put an end to the lawlessness.
Can't convict him on any of the charges .... The only one I thought they had a chance on was the misdemeanor minor in possession charge but that's ben proven otherwise and dismissed. I can't find him guilty of shooting Rosenbaum - he asked for it and he got it. I can't find him guilty of the reckless endangerment of McGinnis because he was left with no options by Rosenbaum. I can't find him guilty of shooting Huber, He involved himself in mob / vigilante justice , trying to disarm someone he had no business disarming and it got him dead. I can't find him guilty on Grosskreutz , he - Grosskreutz leveled his weapon on him .... Rittenhouse shot first. He's damn lucky he only fired once and it wasn't center mass. I expect a fairly quick verdict ....
Not a lawyer, especially in Wisconsin which seems to have odd laws, but reckless endangerment seems like it would fit. Seems purchasing an assault weapon illegally should also fit. Unfortunately he will walk and even profit from taking the lives of two and shooting a third, and become a hero to some.
The prosecution argued that his 4 or 5 shots against Rosenbaum was excessive. As he acknowledged that he knew Rosenbaum was unarmed, he could be found guilty for exceeding what is reasonable for self-defense in that case.
Maybe But from my perspective the prosecution has just been disingenuous about the whole case .... This DA isn't "Seeking Justice" He's seeking a conviction by any means necessary .... and that's not justice.
Certainly un peaceful and violent protestors are responsible for their ill-chosen actions as well. If this trial was a trial of the protestors, I would be talking about their detrimental actions. At the same time, if we want to keep tracing to the root of all of the problems, then yes it is our society, but it was the actions of the society long before the riots started. It was the actions of our society that created the environment of distrust toward our justice system and how it is carried out. That atmosphere prolonged lack of meaningful action and reform also deserves some blame the riots.
It wasn't his property. It was probably the least well thought out solution to protecting the problem in the first place. Again, security unit with a canine unit, better barriers and surveillance would all have served to protect the property. A person's property does not trump human life. Anyone that believes taking lives in a spot far away from the property he was supposedly there to protect was a step in the right direction, it isn't anyone waking up, but a segment of our population descinding into a deeper nightmare and dragging others down with them. The person who survived was a person who actually lived in the area, was trying to diffuse what he believed to be a threat to all and could have shot Rittenhouse, but made the choice not to. Rittenhouse did not show the same choice in regards to him. His action of not shooting Rittenhouse shows he was far less of a threat than Rittenhouse was.
