That little crazed prick sure was a menace to society. His victims should send a thank you note to Rittenhouse.
Kyle, I can hear Walgreens out in San Fransisco calling you now. After you have well a deserved rest, head on out there young man.
Because he acted in a way that was helpful to nobody. His behavior got people killed that would still be alive. Certainly it is reasonable to believe the behavior of one of the people he killed was also to blame. I'm not excusing anyone. But we don't need anyone to think what he did was in anyway a positive. It wasn't.
I think wanting to help protect people’s property is positive. Brandishing a giant gun out in the open was not a good idea (although legal). This is a wider issue around guns. Shooting someone who is chasing after him, with other protesters firing pistols in the background, is legitimate self-defense. Did he fire at him more than was strictly necessary to incapacitate him? Probably, and it seems to me this is best argument in the prosecution’s favor that he acted recklessly. I can see him being found guilty for this. Though it’s not clear to me if a police officer would be found guilty under a similar circumstance. As for the other two people who were shot, to me that is clear cut self-defense. He fell to the ground and he was being assaulted and people were lunging at his weapon. They were pursuing him, not the other way around (as in the Trayvon Martin or Ahmaud Arbery cases).
Wanting to protect people's property is positive. I don't believe that is why he was there, but it doesn't matter. For the price he paid to go there and help, he could have donated to have trained security guarding the premises, extra fences, barricades, surveillance, etc. Any of those would have been better more responsible choices than choosing as a minor to travel there with an assault weapon. One of the people he shot had a gun and could have returned his fire, most likely in self defense, and killed Rittenhouse. That person believed Rittenhouse was an active shooter and had many reasons to believe so. Rittenhouse shot him. Rittenhouse pulled the trigger first and this guy did not shoot Rittenhouse, despite having a gun. That gentleman was actively trying to stop what he believed was an active shooter, criminal. Yet, he didn't shoot Rittenhouse. Of the two, that guy is more deserving of praise and less deserving of ridicule in my estimation. I'm not arguing that it wasn't self defense by Rittenhouse. I'm speaking of making good decisions. Had Rittenhouse acted more responsible and less foolishly, lives would have been saved. Rittenhouse saved nobody's life except possibly his own. Had he donated money for a security guard, barricades, canine protection, and/or surveillance, the property would have still been protected, Rittenhouse would never have been in danger at all, and two people who were killed would still be alive. Another that was shot and still suffers from the shooting wouldn't have been shot. Shame on Rittenhouse, and shame on his family. He helped nobody and killed two people. That's a losing situation for everyone and for the future since he set a poor example that is being held up as an ideal by some.
He went to "protect" a business. Unfortunately, he didn't stay there to do that, but instead, went out into the riot area brandishing his assault rifle.
Doesn't that go two ways? ... Did the "protestors" need to be there with weapons, committing crimes, starting fires, and destroying property? I agree that Rittenhouse made a bad decision to go there and completely agree that his presence was "irresponsible, foolish, and unhelpful," however his actions don't seem illegal to me. On the flip-side, the protestors actions were also "irresponsible, foolish, and unhelpful" as well, and they ended up dead and shot as a result. A lot of foolish decisions by a lot of people, and it's sad it came to this. From what I've seen, Rittenhouse is innocent of anything close to murder, but I certainly agree he made some terrible decisions to put himself in that situation. In my opinion, our society allowing protests to go beyond "peaceful" and completely unchecked created the environment for this to happen. We all as a society should be ashamed of this.
Quick question for you guys who are pissing on this kid. This trial is boiling down to what? Defending those assholes that were causing the riots and trying to do bodily harm to Rittenhouse and then got shot dead? Defending Kyle Riittenhouse for his rights to self defense when his life is being threatened?
Correction, Dems allowed these “ peaceful protests “ throughout our nation. Who can forget city after city were going up in flames last year as they called it “ the summer of love”
Sure. If this was a thread about the protestors' trials, I would agree they made bad decisions that contributed. I'm not trying to excuse anyone or even claim that Rittenhouse is guilty of a crime. Just talking about ways to avoid problems for the accused.
