Rittenhouse wasn't needed in the area with a weapon. Had he not been there and armed, there would have been no confrontation to begin with. He wasn't needed. When an outsider comes with a weapon where they aren't needed, it makes sense that there was trouble. Yes, Rittenhouse had a right to be there. That doesn't mean it was smart, wise, prudent, helpful, or responsible. Rittenhouse's presence was irresponsible, foolish, and unhelpful. He helped zero people by being there and killed two of them.
Without rittenhouse having someone purchase the gun illegally for him because he couldn't purchase the assault rifle legally... without rittenhouse leaving Illinois to go to Wisconsin with his assault rifle... without rittenhouse leaving the other armed people at the business he supposedly went to protect...
Rittenhouse was being a stupid kid raised by stupid parents risking his life for nothing but the culture wars. That said, he's not a criminal for shooting an attacker in self defense. He could have faced other charges but the DA got too pressured and pushed murder.
I won't disagree with any of the above. It is a shame that some of the other charges weren't focused on at all.
I think they would have hurt him, if not killed him. This has happened at other BLM protests. There was a reporter that got the crap beaten out of himself by BLM activists. These are not good people, they got what they deserved.
