Did anyone else see early in the game Jalen got a pick and had Kelly Olynyk switched on to him. And instead taking the matchup that he wanted he just passed it away? Very strange, someone needs to tell this kid that's his time. Harden and CP3 feasted in those matchups,,

 

Cade was going shot for shot with Green and y’all think he didn’t care the match up? Idk what game y’all watched.

He was getting throroughly outplayed until he made some wide open three’s late to catch up in production.

I thought having more turnovers than assists was a problem for a lead playmaker? Or is that only when KP does it?

I'm not saying this doesn't happen. I'm saying this isn't the ONLY thing that happens, and it wasn't the only thing that happened in the 4th quarter.

He's shooting 32% on his wide open 3s. He's shooting like 21% on his mostly open (defender 4-6 feet from him) threes. He's actually 37.5% on his "tight defender" 3s...which is not surprising, he seems more comfortable creating a little space for himself and stepping back or whatnot.

But this is the NBA... you kind of need to be able to hit fairly open 3s with some efficiency.

Not to harp on this.... BUT, his efficiency is the difference between disappointment so far and being what we thought he'd be... AND his efficiency was the one thing that DEFINITIVELY seemed, with the NBA length 3 point line, to be a plus plus for him.

What 19 year old scored efficiently in the NBA? Lebron?

Especially in their first half of their rookie season...

No one predicted Green would be efficient right off the bat.

 

Look, I'm rooting for him. He was my pick.

He can't shoot WIDE OPEN three pointers right now. It is what it is. Maybe it gets better, it should. But we certainly weren't predicting him to be BAD at shooting, which he unquestionably is right now. Not super efficient, fine. But awful? After being fine in g-league AND summer league?

 

Didn't he add like 5-10 lbs since the summer league? Probably getting adjusted to the added weight. And besides even great shooters are capable of 11 game funks.

Obviously not saying he's a great shooter. Just saying the sample size is small to come out with any conclusion so far.

 

Kind of weak to talk trash after a dunk like that, but love the fire!

 

I am happy with Green's progress - this team needs a leader badly, whether it is Green or KPJ or Wood......

There needs to be a hierarchy, too many me first players ATM.

I thought it was for hanging on the rim like the broadcasters. Then when I saw he turned to Cade, thought it was weak sauce. Detroit made that decision. Cade didn't pick himself to go first overall. The other WTF moment was in the first half. He beats his man off the dribble , free lane if he wanted. Instead, retreats back to the three line. Never seen that.
