3rd year player with 37/30/70 shooting splits taking 12 shots to score 12 points and averaging almost as many turnovers as assists…big yikes

Was at the game last night. I know this has been said already, but KPJ has the worst body language of any NBAer since maybe T-Will. It's a stunning level of immaturity, even for a 21 year old. I don't get it. It's like he's learned nothing from being dumped by Cleveland and then being demoted to the G League.

There were multiple instances in the game where he conducted himself poorly, but when he missed that layup with ~9:50 left in the 4th and then just stood out of bounds to let out a long sigh of frustration, then very very slowly jogged back up court, allowing Detroit to get a wide open 3, it was like Jesus man wtf is your problem. He maybe should have been benched for the rest of the game at that point.

He has the talent to make many teams' rotations, but he's not where he needs to be mentally to progress in the NBA beyond his raw abilities. He'll probably have to be cut a couple more times and be out of the league for a while before he hits his rock bottom and realizes he needs to change his ways.

It's weird to see this thread after KPJ had a good game overall where the biggest knock on him all game long was missed FT's pretending like he had a bad game.

I guess he should have been a mindless chucker and put up 20 shots to make the casuals happy.....maybe get T'd up after an uncontested dunk.

I'm not saying he was great, he definitely had things to work on, but the reactions are just so divorced from reality.

In more worried about his turnovers than anything else. He's averaging near 5 a game. I get it. This is a relatively new position he's playing. I'm not going to make many judgements until the season is nearly over so he has a full season of playing of under his belt.

I want to give Josh Christopher more minutes at Point off the bench. He’s shown a different/improved mentality since chucking during the off season and has been impressive on the defensive end in his limited minutes.

KP is a wing that can playmake but not a PG.

We aren’t winning anyway. It’s worth experimenting.

There was a sequence at the end of the 3rd last night where it seemed like he play barely a minute before he got yanked out with 27 seconds left for Silas to put in Theis. Like....wtf? That kind of uneven playing time can mess up a kid's head man.

Silas has no clue what he’s doing. He made it obvious durin the post game interviews. He couldn’t even reward KJ with proper minutes even though he’s been better than House and Nwaba.

Don't even get me started on KJ. Silas can't comprehend the idea that you need to balance the chuckers (who are unfortunately our best scorers) with hustle guys on the floor.

He simply cannot play point guard. I like him as a 6th man type, but he cannot play point guard. His decision making is just unfathomably bad.

I looked it up and Silas has played Porter with a more traditional point guard (Augustin) a grand total of 6 minutes this year. Like, why not experiment and have Augustin be the table setter and use Porter as a legit scorer instead of making him do double duties right now?

at this point, bring back John Wall

Wall and the Rockets aren’t interested in a buyout, and whatever 1% chance of a team trading for Wall is zero if he’s not even playing so what are we doing?

while John Wall doesn’t have the highest BBIQ in the world and isn’t Beethoven when it comes to orchestrating an offense, KPJr makes him look like CP3

John Wall can at least run a hint, a semblance, of an offense

KPJr has no idea what he’s doing every single time down the court

KPJr’s efficiency is just as trash as his playmaking, but let’s see what he can do when put in more of a scoring 6th man type of role

That apparent reality is getting harder to ignore.
Perhaps Cleveland had it right all along, grooming his as a 3.

Given the flashes he had shown, trying him out as a point guard was definitely worth exploring.
But the question now is: Considering how heavily they've invested in his reclamation/redemption, how long do the Rockets continue the KPJ@PG project before making adjustments?

    A couple of months?
    All-Star break?
    All season?

As I said before, my biggest concern is that with him playing such a crucial position, his shortcomings and failures would also impact the growth and development of other talent on the roster.

I think the reason why Silas hasn't already moved him to a bench role is they know his mentality is unstable AF, and would likely lead to him having a breakdown which would lead to him needing to be waived ala Cleveland. I see a coaching staff that is very unsure of themselves from a culture standpoint. Many other organizations would have already done things to change things up for him in a way that is much of secure of themselves.
