Gosar should get the MTG treatment and get kicked from his House committee assignments.

This just in, President Joe Biden is a gigantic man eating Titan, so that an image from the popular anime series Attack on Titan of his enormous head being attacked by one of the animated characters is considered a true and serious threat of violence, and not a comical farce wherein his face is simply replacing the villain in a pop culture reference. In fact, there is absolutely no precedent for this. No one depicted Trump as Thanos or MODOK, no one depicted Obama as the Joker or Two-Face. No one drew a cartoon with Bush replacing Nguyễn Văn Lém in his infamous public execution either. This is very serious and Paul Gosar should be immediately arrested for threats against the life of the President as defined in 18 USC 871.

You guys are really going to damage your pearls if you clutch them any harder.

Which member of Congress did such a thing before?

The GOP and their race to the bottom…. Not surprising conservatives don’t have higher expectations for their elected officials, but actually cheer for this type of behavior.

    Lets go Titan!

Cons must think mockery against their peers is equivalent to violence if they can't see the issue.

They didn't. I am surprised the trump supporter didn't use the standard defense of "mean tweet".

Not only is congress get nothing done still. Now they are crude and unprofessional.

I guess it’s expected. Let’s see where the new bottom is in the coming years. It’s exciting.

Anyone from Congress do that? See how that might be a false equivalency? Do you care?

I couldn't tell you. I don't believe members of Congress lose their free speech protections when they are elected or sworn in, but if there is some law to that effect I would be happy to read it. I know they have increased protections during debate on the floor.
So what exactly should happen to Representative Gosar? Is arrest enough? Is it a true and serious threat, as it was presented, or is it a joke? A comical farce?

A presidential primary candidate for my preferred party walks around with a boot on his head and calls himself Vermin Supreme. No, I don't have any problem with members of any party posting cartoons or memes. Some people may want their politics more stuffy. Personally, one of my favorite moments in American politics was Mike Lee's posterboard presentation about the Green New Deal. I would much prefer they waste time on memes and clownery and otherwise do nothing than continue to take and spend more of my money and further restrict my freedom.

Why would you think this is a freedom of speech issue and not a decorum and accountability issue?

Congressionally censured? Not able to hold any committee spots?

    You’ve jumped the shark.

Like I said, race to the bottom with conservatives and their violent tendencies and images.

Since losing the two Senate seats in Georgia in Jan, Republicans have launched an all-out effort to woo Gov. Chris Sununu into a challenge to Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan next fall. With the Senate locked in a 50-50 split, a Sununu run would shake up the entire Senate midterm landscape.

Moscow Mitch, aka Turtle Face, and his GOP leadership team have made several personal visits to the granite state to recruit the NH Gov

On Tue, Gov. Chris Sununu announced that he will run for reelection next year instead of challenging Democratic U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, w the innuendo that he is not interested in participating in the Washington gridlock. and he did not endorse any Republican candidate for the NH Senate seat.

He also said that he did not inform Moscow Mitch and his recruiting team before his public announcement, amounting to a FU to McConnel

I find this much more worrisome than what Gosar tweeted.

Yes Gosar is merely feeding red meat to his rabid base.

And the rabid base recieve their narratives from right wing media and grifters from YouTube to Newsmax.

I believe there is a connection... and the more we allow elected officials to feed this the more danger our government and society will be in.

I’m struggling to find the equivalency between promoting a murder fantasy and creatively calling someone a weakling. Should such things really be treated the same?

You don't see how antics like this can stir up the base even more which steers the compass of the GOP to think violence could/would be necessary?? Cause and effect

It's a chicken and egg situation and what Gosar tweeted is part of a pattern but I don't think those tweets alone are really the problem. That so many though are believing that violence is necessary when they can't get their way electorally, and that we've seen violence used, is far far more worrying than any handful of tweets.

Also to add that the GOP caucus and supporters are threatening their own members over legislation that is popular, also supported by several Senate colleagues and most importantly will help their constituents is very troubling. It really shows how much wrapped up in partisanship they are and Party loyalty is all that matters.

The biggest fear I have right now is any Republican ever running this state or this country again if they support Trump the raging psychopath. That party is getting more diabolical than I ever imagined possible. Just full of wife cheaters, women abusers, white collar criminals, uneducated Qanon supporters, and hate stirring racists.
