Jalen Green Dunking and Yelling at Cunningham, Plus the Tech!

I feel KPJ as a point guard has ran its course. He's too fragile mentally to control the game. It irritates me when he drives & doesn't go straight up, just tries some acrobatic layup he didn't need to try

But I will say that all the true great players have “made up” certain things that drove and lead them to be great.

 

He shot 3-11 on threes.
I watched most of the game.
Most of his threes weren't last second heaves.

This is not a one time aberration. He's currently not good at shooting threes. Yet he shoots 11?

In the 4th, yes they were. All of his attempts except a offensive foul lay up attempt were shots after the play broke down with seconds left on the shot clock in the 4th.

Ah yes, thinking that a guy with a .435 eFG% and a .473 TS% is a "chucker" in a game where they scored 23 on 20 shots is something a "casual" would do......

 

no they weren’t. His last three for example had 4.5 seconds left. He had time to fake a pass to the corner which resulted in a fairly open three for Jalen. Defender made half hearted effort to reach a hand out. It was as decent as look as you’d want for your SG down 4 with just under 2 min left.

it was a fine shot selection. Except for the fact he’s a horrible three point shooter.

Had a good game. Just needs to find that consistency which will take time.

Honestly super embarrassing
Makes me think way less of him, he thinks that he’s in a one on one battle vs Cade for some reason, even then he prob would have lost cuz his defense is horrible, Cade still had the more complete game, and got the W. And in the midst of all that he was yelling and screaming at Cade, no one is impressed dude, makes you look hella dum.

I get that this is rebuilding but this team is embarrassing the city with this trash offense and wierd ass antics

 

He literally heaved a contested shot up twice over Cade because the shot clock was running out. We must have seen different games. Those weren't good shots but they weren't good shots because the play broke down and Green was dumped the ball.

 

He’s super immature. I hope he starts realizing it’s all about the team and not about his hurt ego. I just want him to put his head down and keep working. There is no competition between him and Cade. If it drives him, good. But it’s clear it’s just an ego thing. There was nothing to celebrate about last night.

His reaction to that play was playground BS, however. As others have said, Cunningham was scrambling to get to him when he got the pass. So the dunk was basically on a player who was in a really bad position defensively. Whatever. Screaming at the other player in general is dumb. It's either going to get you a tech or incite them to play harder. This one did both. You don't have anything to gloat about, either.

Because Green is 19, people will say this is just him showing he cares or that he has fire. He can show that in his play without looking so immature. Gloat in the gleague, play like you've been there in the NBA. His manufactured beef with Cade is dumb too. Cade could care less.
