Sure, i don't disagree that spending a season or 2 as an actual pro would have got him farther along the curve. But man it's so early! When James Harden was 19, he was averaging 20 ppg on 35% 3 point shooting... at ASU.

The GLeague last year was 15 games/one month.. The ignite was there to give prospects a showcase of their abilities (not refinement) against better talent, anf introduce them to pro ball

Your average g league team WOULD CRUSH any college teams, there's a difference there. Fringe nba players in their mid 20s are just better than all of D1.

I think if they keep up the Ignite program over a full schedule, you're going to see lots of domestic lottery picks come through there

I hear ya, and am in no way giving up on Green, I think he has a unique athleticism, and seems to have a great work ethic, so we will just have to see....

Honestly it is more about expectations, personally, I expected so much more from a number 2 pick - I didn't expect him to be so raw.

Yao was 19, too, I think and even he was only 13-7 - so I have hope.

I do think he and KPJ clash right now as they both are shoot first, dominate the ball players, and something has to give there, but hey, we are tanking so plenty of time for that.

I do not generalize. DD's stance is a bit more radical than mine.

I heard of people who do not like college ball. It's cool.

In Jalen's case he wanted to advertise for the Ignite, that is his right. Ain't nobody discriminate against either college or the G League.

We just here to judge the end product in a few years, that is all we should care about.

I have stated in the post above that is up to the players and their guardians what to choose.

For some guys college trains their minds, they already at a point of maturity. (hang out with liberal arts, law, bio students and so on- diversity of people)

Sam, there is also the option of leagues overseas to play professionally. (Lamelo flashing it in Lithuania)

It's a little different in China, athletes retire earlier and then they go to college at age 33 plus and get their degree, they catch up with education and got the prestigious playing careers.

It has been done over and over again.
They know their exact path and could concentrate on their careers early on.

In Yao‘s case he got indoctrinated in the Party and became Chairman of Basketball.

@palmsnbananas Green had 2 dribble penetrations into the lane vs set defense in 6 minutes vs Detroit in the first period.

Drew 1 shooting foul, missed a contested layup the secot time

Had Olynyk 1 on 1 on the switch, sized him up and passed, got it back and got a shot clock violation?

Yao was 22 when he came in the league.

The Rockets have never had a rookie as young as Green, let alone as talented. In fact, the Rockets have basically never drafted teenagers until this year, where they drafted multiple of them.

Among the top 5 picks, Green is the youngest. Mobley, Barnes, Cunningham are all either 2nd year players or 20 years old.

If fans are that desperate for instant results, they would be draft a 22 year old player instead that will give you 15/8 for probably his whole career.

Just found the data. First 11 games for a rookie who was playing over 30 minutes a night as a 19 year old:
