I guess what I would like to see is him feeling he NEEDS to attend them, that he HUNGERS to be a great player, I don't see that from pretty much anyone on the Rox right now. Lots of guys happy to be in the league...... DD
Oh we'd all love that. But the reality is it's impressive he goes to any of them. Most kids wouldn't.
But it also feels like Lucas would like for KPJ to show up on a voluntary basis to work on his game instead of being mandated to do so.
2B fair, the IQ of the team went Forrest Gump from one season to the next. He's surrounded by other "youts" (Vinnie). "What is a 'yout'?" "Excuse me, your honor. Yooooooooouuuuuuths."
KPJ has improved a ton, he is still learning how to play PG, but when he had veterans around him last year at PG, he was 16ppg, and 6+ assists..... He is a good player..... "My biological clock is ticking!" DD
I hope he is getting some backlash for this. He is a grown man playing in a professional league, not some kid that needs to be babied. He should be in that gym as much as he can, or he may see his way out of the league soon.
Oh, yours is ticking. It is very vague with the Tilman, contend in 2-3 years. As little as some liked Les, we knew that he wouldn't want us to have a record below 0.50, at least the course was clearer. And Morey was quite vocal about improving the team, and to achieve that he did not fear to draw out the saber by waiving/trading players.
Rockets Org positive outlook: "Takes a village to raise a child." Paranoid me: "If the village outcasts the child, the child returns and burns the whole village down." Spoiler
I don't want to get rid of him, but I do wish the PG experiment would stop. I just can't help but think he's being asked to play the wrong position. If he WANTS to be the PG, then they should REQUIRE him to show up to those extra practices. He's simply not good enough in that role right now and could seriously use the extra work.
I agree with this. Talent can only take this kid so far. I honestly don't know how much more the Rockets can do at this point.
Very detailed take. Anyways, the reason I thought of this is basically just trying out different schemes. I am fully aware that this may not work in the long term but until we get a decent playmaking guard, we should try looking at different combinations. One thing for sure, Sengun needs to play more as a playmaking big.
Ah, so that's why you ignore how terrible he is. Gotcha. The reason this is even a thread is because our new age Lin fans want someone to blame for the object of their obsession being terrible at basketball. That's why I point out how it's hypocritical that they want to kill this kid for playing poorly while ignoring how terrible the worst player on the team getting serious minutes is. I get the excuse about how he's only 19.....but Green isn't even the best 19 year old on the team.....so that excuse kind of falls flat. It's noteworthy that I never made a thread saying "We have to get rid of Jalen Green", I'm just pointing out that he's currently terrible at basketball, I'm not saying he'll never be a decent player one of these days if he properly develops. It's the ridiculous Green fanbois saying that KPJ has to be dumped due to him being only a bit better than Green.
Failed to improve is a shallow and ignorant observation. 30 games in he was putting up 16/6. The better question is what has changed between end of last season and this season that may be hindering his progress.
