On paper, the Phillies, Angels, and Marlins are the 3 teams for which Correa would have the biggest immediate impact. Adding him would likely take any of those teams from also-ran to legit contender. And of course the Yankees would see a big boost from upgrading SS (although they project to contend even if they don’t). Based on current projections, the Tigers and Rangers have no business signing a $250M+ player, although the Tigers have a LOT more upside in their roster than most teams so it would be hard to fault them for adding him. The Rangers are just bad, a roster filled with unproven guys whose best case scenario is 2-3 wins (outside of Jung and maybe Dunning). They could add 3 players of Correa’s talent and still not be favored to win their division.

Possibly, but the Marlins’ history still proceeds them, and Jeter has done nothing to change it. The Marlins also apparently are willing to listen to offers on guys like Rogers and Alcantara, and I highly doubt it’s to acquire major league ready hitters, instead.

Anything is possible, but I doubt Miami offers Correa 360M for 10 years. I do agree they could be a dark horse, as they were involved in the Pujols’ sweepstakes before he signed with the Angels.

Correa, Ohtani, Rendon, and (hopefully healthy) Trout would be a monster lineup but man....fixing that pitching staff should always be a priority.

I think Correa makes a lot of sense on the Mariners. More so than the Angels and Marlins. They can move Toro to 3rd and put Crawford at 2nd. That is elite defense up the middle with Crawford and Correa. It's also a nice gut punch to the Astros to have him in the division. I don't think their GM will pay Correa enough, but to me it would be worst case scenario for the Astros.

It would be bad, but worst case imo would be if he went to the Strangers

The Mets are not in the mix for a SS? Great news for us, I was thinking they were the highest probability suitor for Correa.

Correa is not making the Angels legit contenders. That team has more problems than Jay-Z's song

I still don't think Correa is seeing $300 mill.

Their current roster projects for 37 fwar, which would mean somewhere between 85-95 wins. Correa would upgrade their weakest position and likely increase their projection by 4 wins. That wouldn’t put them in the top tier (where the Dodgers, Yankees, Padres, and White Sox all project for >45 fwar), but it would vault them into the playoff favorites in a group with the Mets, Blue Jays, Astros, and Brewers (with the note that of course there is still a lot of talent in free agency to be distributed which would significantly alter the projections).

They have 3 superstar hitters at CF, 3B, and DH along with solid players at C, 1B, 2B, and LF. They have 2 top OF prospects (in Adell and Marsh) who’ve yet to get established that they can deploy in RF at the bottom of their lineup. SS is the only position keeping them from having one of the 3-4 best lineups in the league. Their rotation needs help but Correa gets them within an true ace (Ohtani, Sandoval, Detmers, and Suarez/Barria/Canning is a fine 2-5) of being favored in the division (pending of course what the Astros and Mariners do this offseason).

All this is true, but Crane won't let the Angels take him. UNLESS they massively overspend and then Crane will be like, "ok... we will now just use the savings to bolster pitching".

With that being said, if he did sign with Angels, fun playing a team missing two of Trout, Ohtani, Correa, Rendon middle of the season. They can't stay healthy.

Their depth really got exposed this year with the Rendon/Trout injuries. Ohtani was remarkably durable… but there’d always be a concern for injury with his usage.

And while Correa is likely beyond the back issues, still a stretch to expect him to play a 150+ game IR-less stretch every year (I’d say its a stretch for any player).

Also the type of injuries Rendon/Trout had are non-traditional, and there will be a question of their durability/performance going forward. We all had our doubts about Correa lasting the whole season with his history… now multiply that risk x 3 and I still think they’re not as close as some would think.

Hearing rumors Correa will sign with the Rangers. One of my patients is affiliated with the Rangers organization and he told me they are going all out (i.e. blank check). They want him to be the face of the franchise. Let's see if it happens

Going to the Rangers would be a terrible career move for Correa unless they pay him at least a 20% premium over almost any other team. Only the Rockies would be worse.

No state income tax and a blank check is what they are counting on.

Well my nephew has multiple girlfriends, and one of them lives in San Juan. She is great friends with one of Carlos best friends from elementary school, in fact they used to play duck duck goose on the daily

anyhoo...she says that the new Mayor of San Juan is bff with Albert Pujols, and Pujols is tied in to the whole FA market after the huge overpay he got from the Angels

anyhoo...albert says Carlos knows the rangers suck hairy balls and would never sign a contract with butthole suckers

so seems like the rangers might be out of the mix...from my inside info anyway

Hope not. If he ends up in southern Oklahoma, I will have to root against him ongoingly. Sorry Carlos.
