Dammit one of my favorite animes being used for right wing propaganda. And as usual, the right wing takes media that has leftist core messages and uses as their own. Another example: squid games.
As long as this is shrugged off, and allowed to happen, then this will only escalate, since there is no penalty and with many people, this is considered funny and other will agree with it. And at some point, someone will act it out.
Gosar should be censured, but I think people should take the outrage down a notch because it has the ironic effect of making people not hear the inappropriateness of the video. AOC, btw, gives as good as she gets. I love AOC, and she probably didn't need a creative team to come up with her response. The wet toothpicks dig makes me giggle. But she totally surrenders the high ground by cynically blaming "institutions" of racism and mounting her own counterattack. Which is fine and maybe she's right. But obviously she doesn't need or want me to come to her defense because she has opted instead to just attack Gosar's character right back. Probably while Gosar is being censured for singling her out with violent imagery in a campaign video, she should also be censured for calling him a creepy white supremacist and a wet toothpick (teehee). We could stand to have firmer House rules on collegiality that don't tolerate veiled threats of violence and direct insults on fellow members no matter how much you may hate each other irl.
