Guy is going to be so damn good. So happy we have all the same dorks on record, again. Also, amusing to see people jumping on the Sengun train that previously were not.
This guy blows Maybe he needs a back up QB situation where he’s on the bench for a few years with no spotlight to mature and get better?? Also he was talking **** about Detroit the city after the draft, look for him to get his ass handed to him this next game. Overall he’s looked like a dumbass on and off the court so far. Only way to go from here is up right ?
I thought there would be some issues due to his slight frame but yes that's so far the most disappointing aspect for him this early into his career.
As he puts on more mass, he should improve significantly on that. It's just too easy for NBA level defenders to bump him off course.
I agree but here is some statistical signs of improvement which is encouraging. He'll still probably struggle some because of his frame but it's good to see signs
And not turning ball over as much. And not fouling. And better PPG, REB, BLK, STL, FG%, TS% and box +/-. With similar or better MPG and FT%. Barnes is +7 and Mobley is +8 while Green is -110. This is a team stat and both Barnes and Mobley are on better teams with real systems but that is still a troubling sign. And Scottie Barnes is playing lock down defense on KD and Harden while Mobley is successfully switching and stonewalling Dame. And FYI, Mobley had a NBA career high in points with Sexton/Markkanen/Okoro/Love out. So argument that he owes his success and efficiency because is on stacked team rings very hollow. Mobley has been an efficient, consistent, high IQ, 2 way player at every level.
Some people like to deal with problems first, and good news last. It's a more practical business strategy. The nba really should create an area for lowlights. It would make this debate a lot easier.
Ya that's why I don't put much stock into his first ten games stats. Most of the issues with finishing is mainly him getting stripped or just missing lay ins that I think he'll usually make in the long run. Obviously due to his slight frame he also gets veered off course often which should improve once he fills out.
Team Mobley can take their victory lap. They were right that Mobley would translate to the NBA. Our draft and current team makeup is relatively similar to the Magic. Green and Suggs were supposed to be more NBA ready but both have struggled with the strength and pace. On the other hand, Sengun and Franz are both front court players with feel for the game that have outperformed. Neither the Rockets and Magic have a decent PG. Still confident Green will turn it around but there’s no denying the skill and readiness of Mobley and Barnes.
I definitely never said at best he can be Corey Brewer. I said "He is currently playing like his ceiling is Corey Brewer". To the contrary, I have repeatedly stated that I haven't completely given up on him and more than once acknowledged that there is still room for a Zach Lavine or Bradley Beal like career arc (they were horrible in their first 10 games too). I am not prognosticating his future at all. And I still hope he pans out. But I can root for him to pan out while still acknowledging that he has been abominable out there. One of the worst starters I have ever seen in a Rockets jersey so far. And I really don't know how anybody can argue otherwise based off of what he has shown us thus far. And while I very much hope he proves any doubts I have wrong, right now, he's giving us all more reason to believe he'll fail than succeed. *edit: also, I was team Green. I was not a Mobley guy. But I have every right to be deeply disappointed in the player we've seen to date. Have I mentioned he's been terrible?
Green’s shown flashes of great ability. People develop at different rates so it really makes no difference to me how far behind or ahead he is compared to other players, just that he improves as the season goes on.
It's not exaggerated. That's the point. When I say he "doesn't have skills" clearly I mean he doesn't have NBA caliber skills. I'm sure he'd be amazing at a local YMCA just like Brian Scalabrine. His handles are REALLY weak for an NBA caliber guard and his stepbacks end in bricks. He hasn't developed those skills to an acceptable level, that's why I say he doesn't have them. His body is also undeveloped. His "defense" is laughable most of the time despite a lot of effort due to lack of skill on that side of the ball. Essentially no part of his game is NBA ready. Sure, it's possible that one day he'll be a decent NBA player, but he's not one right now. He honestly shouldn't even be a starter.
Well he has consistently been the worst player on the court with the worst +/- on what might be the worst Rockets team in history so that's a pretty good case right there. Tell me who was worse?
I also have zero patience for developing players lol I have pretty much given up on Green to be a star. He needs a 2 season imo, but I don't like putting in effort for false hope. I was also pro Green pre draft, I was not that high on Mobley because I didn't want to wait for him to develope I just wish we can draft a Luka or Lebron and get it over with.
All is correct of what you said above. The rookies that are standing out in no particular order are Barnes, Mobley and Duarte. But that’s only 3, I’m unsure the playing time of the other rookies. But there is definitely a sharper learning curve for Green, Cade and even Suggs they have to make. The Rockets are years away from contending, soon as that time comes hopefully Green has Ascended to the player people think he is… so I would say all these guys have sometime to get better. All I’m looking for is small improvements until then. Will see what all these guys look like in the next few years.
The refs are allowing a lot more contact at the rim this year than in years' past which does not work in a slight 19yr old's favor. I expect he will improve here as he adds weight. He's just bouncing off older guys right now.
