This is Wood's first bad game, bad games happen.

And it happens more often when there is no system and the rotations are for shet.

There were chunks of the game that were entertaining but it’s frustrating to watch all the turnovers and sloppy play.

Sengun sometimes is decapitated and the refs swallow their whistles. Frustrating

Green had a few nice plays like the 3 over stephanie.

Martin put back dunk was bad azz.

Wood needs to stop coast to coast dribbling. Pass the rock.

Well - high draft picks here we come.

Mobley was projected to be the better long term player, Green was supposed to be the immediate impact player.

Now we can only hope that reverse is true.

Not that I was expecting it but with Olynyk and Simmons, you could win several games more.

What good are high draft picks if we keep wasting them

Jalen Green was our first high draft pick since Yao Ming. The phrase “keep wasting them” might not exactly be fair.

But yeah the org doesn’t really have the luxury of an 8 year build through the draft plan. Its Green and the 2022 pick that they are banking on hitting with. If the draft looks weaker than we think next Summer I hope Tillman will let Stone punt free agency in 2023. Because their plan to spend big then could bite them in the arse if they haven’t hit yet on at least 1 star level lotto pick.

You are right, I think for a franchise that won couple titles, you have to do better with mediocre picks.

The White, Lamb, Jones haul was a fiasco. Should not have happened to a quality franchise IMO.

Llull, Eliyahu, Newley, Gentile, all those stashes........

This has been the first time since Yao Ming that the franchise is giving a real chance to rookies.

    20 years too late.

Of course there is this vicious cycle of not recognizing talent, picking the wrong guys and playing the wrong fellas, veterans.

Morey never had anything in the top 10 though so it’s hard to compare Jeremy Lamb to Jalen Green from a high stakes perspective.

Also Jeremy Lamb was essentially drafted for OKC who thought enough of him to let him be the centerpiece in the Harden trade. Morey killed it with the Lamb draft pick IMO.

At 14, I think Morey drafted some pretty solid players with long NBA careers. He was never a home run hitter of a GM drafted though. Never drafted anyone he didn’t think he could trade or move on from if they didn’t pan out. Highest stakes “draft pick” that wasn’t really his pick but he gave up a 1st for was Terrence Williams and boy did that one blow up in his face. Maybe Moreys worst move as GM followed by Royce White.

But again … the stakes are so much higher for the Green and 2022 pick for Stone.

I think the 'We can't really get useful players beyond Top 10' is IMO a classic misconception.

It is harder but you still can get quality role players like Sengün, like Michael Redd....

I think for a statician like Morey, not able to hit high efficacy with mediocre picks, was one of the reasons, he was a very good GM but not great.

How the Spurs and now the Warriors could mold role players, even semi stars out of later picks, that is art itself.

some people are happy with a rebuild until the games start. Growing pains always happen in rebuilds

Maybe some of us are disappointed because one rookie came out and complained he wasn’t the first pick overall and then shouted to whomever would listen that he was going to be first team all defense and rookie of the year. He walked around wearing clothes that made him look like Deion Sanders during his “Primetime” years and had the same non-humble attitude. Meanwhile, while he was on the “I’m spectacular” tour other guys like Mobley were being quiet and working on making their games NBA ready. Don’t forget he’s the only one who played against semi-NBA level talent in the NBDL. Starting off, there is no reason for us fans to be happy continually seeing a turnover or bad shot every other possession. I 100% agree that his off-season work ethic will be critical to determining whether the Rockets made the wrong pick.

Yet another thing I notice about Green that I've never seen in another shooter (his long wind up leading to blocked outside shots being #1)

Is that he misses BADLY frequently. Shooters tend to just miss the vast majority of the time.

Jalen will airball an open shot. He'll clank another off the far side of the backboard without touching rim. He'll brick the next one to make Westbrook look proud.

I cannot believe people try to lie to themselves to believe he 'has good shooting mechanics'. His shot is whack as f*ck and we're already seeing it ain't going to cut it in the NBA.

I don't really think we're competitive more that they're playing with their food and then they try for a few minute stretch and blow the game out and call it a night.
