Personally, I don't want to give up on him. I just want to bury him on the bench until he adds 20 pounds of muscle or more.
Not sure how this forum would survive if we were all supposed to hold our feelings on the team for another 2+ years. It would be a pretty quiet place since most of our team are guys with barely 2 years of experience.
The experiment's not over, we just need to give him some tough love on the bench or G-league, make him earn his stripes. Both Green and KP are underperforming, they need to have their toys taken away and not treated like superstars before they've earned it.
I don't think I am as mad as Green not making shot as he is in other parts of the game. It's fine if you brick shots, that means you are a bad shooter. If you get blocked at the rim, at least you are driving. But I just don't feel like he's really out there as hustling as hard as someone like Tate, Nwaba, or Sengun. Especially on defense on rebounds, even when you get pushed around, you should still remain physical, Box out hard on rebounds, dive for the lose balls, run your ass back on defense, fight on screens. A lot of time he's just really aloof, and kind of floats around not committing. Even on offense, he's not really cutting hard to lose his man. The move he does the most is literally getting a handoff from one of our centers. It's no wonder his FG% is so low, everything is very difficult from the perimeter, off basic PnR or iso's where he has to breakdown an NBA diffense by himself.
the thing is, we are so thin in that position that we can't even really bench both players, You can't just play Gordon and DJ the entire game, especially with Gordon resting so much.
He looks intimidated half the time. You can see him fading into the background in games. He needs a lot more intensity, when he shows it, he shows out.
Christopher, Brooks, Martin and Tate in various combinations can easily cover a bunch of their minutes at the 1/2. Make them earn it.
This season has gone so far as I had expected. I have enjoyed watching what I have seen. People (some) are incapable of seeing things completely and instead things in an overly simplistic manner from the entire scope of the team and what the front office is trying to do starting with when Harden got traded and for the next 3 years from that point. They also do not understand the synergy on the team in regards to how it would impact a player like Green or if Cunningham Wood or one of the other top rookies if they were on the Rockets instead. The Cavs and Raptors have a completely different team on the floor. I could explain this better but I don't have time. I guess I should I expect that though.
I mean what did christopher and Brooks do to earn anything, they have both been pretty bad even in garbage time. If we are going with the "earning" their minutes argument, only Gordon deserves minutes at the PG/SG position. Even DJ has looked kinda bad lately Martin is also not a PG, and Tate is already in the starting lineup playing major minnutes.
This is why I hate one and done/ going pro out of high school. There is no way in hell 98% of these dudes are ready to play at the level it takes to win at age 19.
Exactly. We drafted him and roled out some red carpet thinking he was going to be nba ready. He is NOT NBA READY! Probably won't be NBA ready for about 2 years. Plus if he is physically not NBA ready there is a high chance he will get injured there. Imagine the 2nd pick and his legs get messed up without even a full year! That's damaged goods right there. Especially for someone who depends on his legs to create seperation. He doesn't have the arm length to shoot over most 2 guards and that's why he has such a high arch. He's just not physically ready to be out there!
Absolutely! Compare Jalen Green to MCW! That's more of a proper physical comparison. Notice how most of us joined this site before Green got here. We were here when Francis and Mobley were here and then traded for Tmac. Then to the Harden years. We'll be here when Jalen gets traded or moved to the bench too.
The good. Mad athletic and uncanny speed. Also has a very short memory when it comes to missed shots and TOs. Which could be a good thing in terms of a young man's confidence. The Bad. He is simply built fot AAU basketball. If he played D1 this year, he would be lucky to be a josh jackson type of prospect. Not only is he physically not ready, his mental game and attention to detail doesnt look pro-level - not yet. A little disappointing for a high lottery pick that came with so much hype. Im very concerned how he looks like he checks out defensively. Its early, but 10 games in, and the run and leash given to him--- he should at leaset show some improvement.
