Hey guys, can you recommend me what to do with my neighbor dogs. My neighbor has some missing picket fence panels. I told him he has to fix his fence before the dogs come over. He told me he had no money. So I had to go buy some at Home Depot to fix it myself on my side so it wouldn't go over. Well he has 3 big dogs and 2 small ones. The two bigger ones manage to claw their way over. I saw that they broke 2 more fence panels with scratch marks. Its been about 2 months and some days his dogs would come over. They are easily spook and run back to their yard but I'm afraid to get any closer so I just walk inside. I can see them come over again through my window. I'm afraid my mom will get bitten one of these days when she walks back there. Last time she told me she saw one of the dog running back right away while she went to the backyard. Just when she about to go back inside another one ran right behind her. She got really scared. Today I manage to take some pictures of the dogs while in my backyard. I have tried calling 311 but they dog run back to their yard. My neighbor is a truck driver I'm thinking (The neighbor that shares the same fence from my backyard not my neighbor next to me). I'm never able to get a reach of him unless hes in the backyard himself. I think he just leaves a bunch of food and water in the backyard for the dogs to eat and drink while hes away. I don't know what to do for my next step.
I was thinking about shooting it but I can’t. It’s just not in me to shoot an animal especially a dog.
Yeah, it's not the dogs fault. So cruel... Maybe you can drop off a poisoned a bucket of chicken and a six pack on your neighbors doorstep and let laziness do its thing
For clarity I wasn't condoning shooting them, but yeah an electric fence will work. Sucks that it's at your expense and on your side.
Is there an HOA? If so there’s usually a limit on dogs. And a fence policy too. If not, just them out of your yard and into the street. Problem solved. You could also order a bunch of ‘cooking with dog meat’ and ‘beastiality with your best friend’ books from Amazon but get them delivered to his house. Most people don’t read the label until they realize the package is misdelivered. Truck drivers can be very territorial about their pets, meat and sexual partners.
Call animal control. If he can't afford to keep them in his yard safely by simply fixing a fence, then he can't afford pets. Take pictures and/or video every time they come over. Call animal control. If it becomes a constant issue they'll probably fine him and/or take the dogs away if the situation is bad enough.
And if animal control does nothing, keep reporting. At some point (at least in MN), they start charging the dog owner for the visit, even if the owner isn't doing anything wrong. In MN, my son's dog was out on a 70 degree day, plenty of food and water and shade. Less than an hour. Dog had a nice long securely connected cable. Neighbors called animal control. They came out. Told my daughter in law she was doing nothing wrong, but if they had to be called out again, they'd have to charge my son and DIL. We were stunned.
Plan a Bank Heist. Wear dog masks. Three possible outcomes... 1. You walk away filthy rich and move. 2. Your entire family is caught, and sentenced to live in prison where there are no dogs. 3. The dog is blamed for the bank robbery. And that is how you Supa Fly the situation.
Depending where you are, animal control may not do anything. We have stray pits everywhere here and they don’t care. It’s made it impossible for me to walk my dogs safely. I’d get a nice spray nozzle for a water hose and shoot the dogs with it every time they’re on your property. It won’t hurt them and after enough time they should learn to stay away. you can also spray ammonia on the fence line. Dogs don’t like the smell, could help repel them. I believe they don’t like lemon peels either.
