I never said that. I said you renegotiate a contract with 4 years left on it. I also said u can’t pay a QB, LT, and WR $22 million. People said “The Chiefs are doing it”. You are now seeing the Chiefs showing the signs of being cap strapped is doing to their depth. Mahomes is not covering their holes anymore.
Can’t pay Hopkins. Can’t pay Reader. Can’t pay Mathieu. Can’t do it Brian. Gotta pay Eric Murray, Randall Cobb, David Johnson, Whitney Mercilus, Nick Martin, Benardrick McKinney, Ka’imi Fairbairn, Johnson Bademosi, Brandon Dunn, Angelo Blackson, Aaron Colvin, Senio Kelemete, Zach Fulton,… You know,…smart, tough, dependable. Working hard, getting better every day. Good culture guys. Oh wait, they all ****ing suck and/or are past their prime.
By the end of 2023 or sooner he will be bought out. Doesn't count against the cap so this really doesn't matter.
The cap, or if they have to go cheap to fill out the roster. Since they're probably going to be bad again next year and have a high pick in the 2023 draft as well. This is what happens when your QB is a sexual predator.
Oh yeah for sure it doesn't really matter in terms of the cap, but it definitely does not give me encouragement of Nick Caserio's performance.
True! Caserio hasn't WON a trade yet and people are actually trusting this guy to make Draft Choices and FA acquisitions?? #CASERIOISNOTTHESCENARIO
I'll give him a chance, but just like Cal giving him a top 3 salary for his position - Caerio keeping Easterby and then signing Culley to a 5 year contract... I am uneasy to say the least. I couldn't care any less for Watson now, but Andre Johnson saying negative things about the organizations means more to me then the empty words that come out of Culley and Caserio's press conferences.
Is it just standard for all coaches to have 5 years minimum at the very least in the NFL? Giving Culley's background and lack of HC/coordinator experience, I assumed they'd be able to bargain for 2-3 years. Dusty Bakers just took the Astros to the World Series and got a one year extension. Granted it's the MLB and Dusty being slightly older. I am just questioning the overall business decisions from keeping Easterby around, signing Caserio to to a top 3 GM salary, and then also signing Culley to a five year contract.
Nice find. I was against bringing more NE to TX, but Cas did a good job with his first draft here. He was handed a dysfunctional org and this next year will be huge. This was kind of a throw away season, try to find some gems in the rough.
I think there is a place where it is ok to believe that Cal/Janice are horrible owners and give way too much power to someone who shouldn't in Easterby. Also having Culley brought here to be a bridge coach until we get more talent on the roster. Then on the other hand, being optimistic about Caserio and how he has handed things since he has been here, even if how he got here was because of Easterby. As long as Caserio has final approval, I can live with that for now. He has not done anything thus far to make me think he has not been a good GM. All GM's make bad moves, just try to limit them which he has done so far in my opinion. PS: I trust Caserio with game management more so than Culley.
I wonder if Caserio will pull the plug on Culley after one year…. And more importantly, who would he hire to replace him. The McDaniels rumors are beginning to swirl.
