So....you're saying they need the exact player Sengun will be in a year or two?

Well that's good because they aren't going to even come close to contention till then at the earliest.

You do realize that while the kids are definitely trying to win, that's not the goal of the organization at this time, right? Right now the only goal is player development and progress. The more losses we rack up in the process the better. We're trying to add talent in the draft. Don't be surprised if there are two more years of this before they really try to improve the team via free agency.

If anything, I expect any trades they make this year to make us worse in the short term. Think trading Eric Gordon for filler and a pick.

But the good news is 4 out of the top 5 players in the next draft are bigs.

Ben Wallace? Dennis Rodman? Draymond Green? You can win without a legitimate 7-foot center, especially in today's NBA, as long as you have a legitimate defensive big who's versatile. The Rockets don't necessarily need a true stud 7-footer, but they do need a big with some defensive chops down the road as they grow if they expect to win. Don't sleep on Garuba. He's got some exceptional defensive instincts; he's just insanely young and needs experience.

For now, though, I don't care if they lose 50+ games this season and get killed by every offensive-minded big man in the league. This season was never going to be about winning. It's about growing and adding young assets to your young core.

Thanks and it was definitely a misread. That being said, I don't think you really know what you want for this team. You say we have a small front court but we're starting two bigs at least 6'9". You say you like Sengun but are frustrated that he doesn't dunk the ball, more or less forgetting that he's a 19 year old rookie and dunking over people was never part of his game like a DeAndre Jordan or a young Blake Griffin.

As for historical references, I think you forgot that when there was a big worth getting, Morey tried his hardest to acquire one. He got Dwight Howard. Before that he got Asik. We drafted and developed Howard's replacement in Capela. They signed and brought in Nene. They took a flyer on Hartenstein. Last year, Stone signed Christian Wood, took a flyer on DeMarcus Cousins and traded for Olynyk. So, yea, lack of size on the roster hasn't really been an issue.

Can Sengun dunk easily? He doesn’t seem to have much lift and explosion. It’s going to be tough for him to finish around bigs. He may be more like Scola, having to be crafty and go under a lot of guys.

Yeah there's a lot of that "just sayin" going around. Nobody's stopping anybody going being a Mobley fan, doesn't play for us though so kind of irrelevant to literally everything beyond when we play them at this point.

You know what this is, let's develop the team.

And I hope Stone doesn't say anything at all and is scouting his tail off for the draft.

If notice, I said I HOPE Sengun gets bigger and stronger. I understand he's 19 and he will be better in the yrs to come but nothing is for certain.

And I must admit. His lack of athleticism concerns me.

All those guys you list are practically the same height as Wood and Sengun. I'm arguing strength and skill are at least as important as height in the post.

I love watching Banchero highlights because he looks like a 35 year old bullying teenagers. Now there's a guy who likes to dunk.

theres no substitue for coaching.... had sengun got more PT thus settled in his role earlier and cleanup turnovers and stop doing the patented fancy pass (turn)over his head we would have won all those games and you wouldnt be clamoring for the true big now...

you would be perhaps creating threads and praising the new era of skilled bigs and how the true bigs will be out of league in few years
