Yeah spacing needs to be better. When the pick and roll is being run, both Tate and Wood need to be at the 3 point line to make it work. They're at least somewhat respectable from 3 won't want to leave them open. Then KJ can roll to the basket for the lob. Olynyk use to run the P&R really well with KJ. Like in this clip:
Trade Wood for Fultz or Anthony or another actual real life point guard from around the league. Draft a center put kpj at the three and give Tate, KJ, Jc and Brooks the Bench minutes and we are good again.
This team has come together and played harder since the lakers game. You see the effort defensively and an assertive Jalen Green. I still think he needs the ball in his hands more to make plays and we have seen him flashing playmaking ability tonight. KPJ can score over anyone and needs to keep attacking the paint. Seems like he’s figuring it out and you see these young players learning while competing which gives me hope and I think they can be really good in the years to come.
You do realize it’s his first year with this core after a crazy year last year mixing and matching players and juggling lineups after the Harden trade? Calm down exercise patience and let the man lead this team and we can evaluate after the season. These two games showed me a lot and there’s much to be excited about.
Good take. I also think they need to play senguin more. I missed the 3rd quarter so wasn't sure why he only ended up with 20ish minutes. The offensive system make no sense to me too sometimes. Too often the guard is getting ready to drive and there is a person in the post. Those used to be easy lobs for harden but our guards are not there yet
........... except he's done it numerous times this season already with no call. Do we even get an actual replay showing the alleged hook? I didn't on my feed.
Senguin is coming along. He is adjusting to NBA speed. But you see what separates good teams from bad teams are experience, poise, and decision making. KPJ played better a good game tonight but wasn’t as agressive as he should be driving and taking fouls in the paint. He also tends to dribble too much using a post move after a dribble drive which draws 2-3 defenders. Green needs to attack as well and learn to use his body to draw contact. Wood is disappointing in that he can’t blow by players and weak against stronger bigs. He plays too much like a 2-3 settling for long jumpers and 3s. Overall the team just needs to learn to be more aggressive and when to attack draw defenders and find open spots. But they’re improving. Sky’s the limit
LMAO no its not, this is the most vague trash that I have seen. He talks about a few plays and makes no mention of what defenses are actually doing out there, he just whines like a baby about Silas.
I think if the Front Office knew how it was all going to play out with Westbrook and Harden they would have hired JVG. Silas may have been a good coach for a veteran team, but JVG would have been the right one for a developing team.
We watch the same game and see the same thing over and over. Everything comes back to coaching or lack there of. I thought it was because of the amount of people that came through our team last year that nothing was happening. It’s the “offense”. I know we’re younger but hopefully with structural changes we will see results. The offense is not suited for our current roster. I am hopeful that a change is coming. A double high post with a lot of backside screens and cutting mixed with a simple P&R to keep the ball in Porter/Wood’s hands with Green coming off a backside screens as the outlet would go a long way to playing to the rosters strengths. Sengun in the high post is effective; even more so with planned movement where everyone has a purpose. Our guards are big enough to play “position-less” basketball.
I liked this and previous loss. Thats what I signed up for. They can loose and stack pick but at least they are developing and put up a fight against very good teams
I love JVG to an extent but that dude has not coached in what 12 or 13 years? The game has changed. While his defense was good, I am picturing his worse Offense just now. Really surprised people are still pining for a has been so long. I guess people have to try out every ex coach, what about Bickerstaff junior?
If only theres a coach to make 2nd half (premptive) adjustments or call a timely timeout, take a t, or something else in that department or if he only inspired and taught nwaba to practice 3s during the summer (or vetoed his signing if hes not cooperative) it could have been a blowout win this is at least a playoffs team with a better coaching.... at the very least
