3 games of Baby Shark... and 3 games of Tomahawk Chop that could not be drowned out... what is more nightmarish in hindsight?

I forgot about he baby shark thing (wiped 2019 from memory). How weird is that....to play that in a stadium....about as strange as a guy wearing pearls in a baseball game.

I’m more bummed about 2019. That was probably one of the 10 most talented rosters in MLB history so it was a real shame for them not to win it all.

I think most people looked at this year’s roster entering this season (with no ToR SP and losing Springer) and didn’t expect them to win it all. They probably slightly overachieved.

Neither haunts me. I find both impossibly annoying, although I'm glad those fanbases and teams have something fun and quirky to rally around. If I grew up there, I'd be all into it. Except, I hope, that stupid tomahawk thing. It doesn't "haunt" me (the Braves earned it, and they were professional and classy about it), but I find it mildly offensive and impossibly annoying.

I'd love to face them again next year, Altuve up to bat with a couple guys on, and hear a crack of the bat silence that damn chant they do. Clinch it in game 4 or 5, on their field, with a go-ahead bomb from Tuve in the 7th or 8th. Storybook stuff. "OHHHH-oohh-OOHHH-OOHHH-OOOHHH... OHHHH-oohhh-[SWAT]" ...followed by deathly silence. That's the stuff dreams are made of, right there.

As expected Braves are getting crap for the chop that's ramped up since they won. I wouldn't be surprised next season if the SJWs are successful in making them take it down and not reference it. Heck Manfred might just do it for fun since the braves fans booed him at the podium.

Honestly, being 39 and witnessing some postseason lows during the Killer B's era, this scares me more than anything:

That series f***ed up my teenage years being an Astros fan. Losing to a murderer's row of pitching greatness vs the Braves was one thing but seeing this guy dismantle THAT team....

    Astros heartbreaks for me, ranked:
    1. 1998 - Kevin Brown
    2. 2019 - top 3 MLB roster all time, lost at home with Cole in the pen
    3. 2005 - first time in the WS and swept
    4. 2021

Honestly, 2021 still doesn't feel terrible to me. Before the season, I would have been happy to win the division and make some noise in the playoffs. I didn't think we had the pitching to win it all. And we didn't. But we made it further than I expected and frankly, watching the young pitching staff take on the responsibility and get us all the way to game 6 of the World Series was fun and impressive to watch.

Spot on. We overachieved IMO especially considering that we lost LMJ.

2019 was way worse. Being up 3-2 and losing G6 and G7 at home, with that roster, was rough.

Dunno, I'd probably have to rank 2005 higher, especially since it was the world series. We had Clemens, Petitte, and Oswalt and couldn't win a single game? Man, that hurt, and I think all games were lost by 1 or 2 runs.

In 4 WS appearance the Astros have won as as many WS games in stadiums playing Baby Shark than in Stadiums with a choo choo train. Do the Astros have the all time worst home winning percentage for teams with 4+ WS appearances? @bobrek

Considering the Astros went undefeated hearing Baby Shark, that tune doesn't haunt me but losing that series still haunts me. They played that song for a pinch hitter that went hitless in those 3 games. The 2019 WS hurt(s) more considering the starting pitching and the frustrating way the late innings of game 7 unfolded.

This thread had me reminiscing on that 2019 roster. The 8-9 hitters were Josh Reddick who hit .275 and Robbie Chirinos who hit 17 bombs. The other 7 guys ALL had a wRC+ >130!!! Verlander and Cole combined for 13.9 fwar. Greinke had a 3.02 era after the trade. Bullpen had FOUR guys each post >1 fwar (Osuna, Pressly, Harris, Peacock). Offense put up 39.9 fwar, 24.2 from the pitching staff (OVER SIXTY FWAR). Just an absolutely STACKED roster. We might never see anything like that on an Astros roster ever again.

The sound of a ball clanking off the rim from another bricked three ball.
