Agreed. He’s basically going to be a minimum salary player, so I could see a team taking a cheap gamble on him for a low-level prospect.
Forrest Whitley, Hunter Brown, Peter Solomon Enoli Paredes, Abreu Just waiting for these players to be called up and some of them get healthy. Can't wait to see Korey Lee, Yainier Diaz at Catcher, maybe Jeremy Pena, Pedro Leon That is why James Click didn't want to trade these Prospects, Astros would've lost 5 or 6 Prospects.
Kikuchi has some really good stuff. Not saying I’d wants the Astros to sign him and not saying he’s better than any of the starters we have…but there have been a couple starts I’ve seen, specifically against the Astros that he was hitting upper 90’s consistently with a nasty splitter. I bet when the Mariners dropped him out of the rotation during their stretch run that probably has something to do with his decision to opt out
Tevor Story on the road in his career hits worse than Aldemys Diaz, who would cost a fraction of the price... If you're signing him, he did this on the road last year: .203 BA .292 OB% .426 SLG% .717 OPS He would be our 8th hitter... possibly 9th if Machete leaves as a free agent.... Marte at 33 doesn't seem like a wise investment unless you're talking about a deal the size of Brantley... his pop is almost gone...
Is this out lineup 3 years from now? SS J Pena RF Tucker DH Alvarez 1B Bregman CF Siri LF Leon C K Lee 3B J Perez 2B Altuve I've seen worse out there.... assuming Crane gets cheap....
1. Maldonado signed an extension so he is here next year barring a trade 2. Story has put up a 6.0 WAR season... something Correa never did, but yes his splits are a concern 3. Marte put up 5.4 WAR in 120 games this season. Brantley was a 2.1 WAR player with one more game played than Marte. MUCH better speed and defense with Marte plus he can play a premium position in CF. He stole 47 out of his 52 stolen base attempts. So pretty much most of his singles are doubles. He hit 12 HRs which is 4 more than Brantley and 26 doubles which is only 3 less than Brantley. Marte is also a physical freak which makes his age less concerning.
If I am the Astros and I want to keep CC, then I put feelers out to see what I can get for Bregman. Yes I am selling low but his decline scares me. Not sure you can blame it all injury?
I could see Verlander in LA. He lives there in the off-season. Detroit is a ways away from competing. Yankees are another option.
Detroit looks one year from competing... Astros 70-92 with Bo Porter in 2014 before making playoffs in 2015... Detroit is 77-85 this year... a year of development can do wonders. And our additions between 2014 and 2015 was essentially Rasmus and Lowrie.
I’ll blame injury and I would keep Bregman. When healthy he is awesome and he will be next year. Correa wasn’t great in 2018, 2020
