Do not disagree. But Wood more dynamic scorer at 5 right now. Aside from the Green snark, some great stuff below.
He's got potential to be a stud, especially if he carries on the body transformation and becomes somewhat athletic. I just figured if Wood's not going to be all star quality for us (likely in part down to the lacklustre coaching and lack of system) I'd give Alp the lion's share of the minutes (within his fitness level) for the sake of development alone. In my head, if Wood doesn't truly break out as an All Star this year, I don't think he ever does and his ceiling is a starter who's a step below all star, I'm not sure I'd prioritise that over giving Alp everything we can to help him develop.
I can’t defend much of anything Silas does. His lineups and substitutions included. I don’t think he has any idea how to put this group together yet. Hopefully one day he will!
He needs to shake up the lineups and rotation, it's clear that the current starting 5 isn't working. They play too slow and get down by double digits at the half of the first quarter. Put KJ at the 3, or 4 if it's too early for Sengun(but IMO it would be best if he could start at 4). In the current starting lineup We have 4 guys that tend to play on ball, and as a result no one is cutting and moving. Their shooting is also inconsistent and unreliable. KJ can help us much more than Tate or Theis in the starting lineup. His shooting might still be inconsistent, but his cutting and moving on offense is good and reliable, he can be an easy target for KPJ's lobs and passes. He also plays with force and isn't afraid of contact, and We need that. One more thing. DJ Augustine needs to be glued to the bench, he's way too old and slow to make any kind of positive impact.
injuries and "injuries" forced Silas's hand tonight and his decisions STILL hurt us. We played a 3 guard lineup of Augistine/Brooks/Nwaba for a lot of minutes in the 3rd. Then we played Nwaba for a ton of minutes in the 3rd/4th largely with him guarding Anthony Davis... Sengun starting helped a lot and gave for some minutes at the 5 for each Wood and Alp which resulted in a MUCH better offense.
Unfortunately, Silas seems to be stuck on a particular group of guys. It's obvious from the end of last season to the last 2 games that KJ Martin should have a spot in the rotation. It's obvious that Danuel House does not deserve guaranteed minutes and should probably be glued to the bench. David Nwaba is an energy guy that should be used on a situational basis. His defensive energy is great, but his lack of offense really hurts us on the offensive end. I'm not a fan of DJ this season, he's been awful and turnover prone, however, we do need a back up PG and Christopher is not ready to be a back up PG, he is waaaay to turnover prone, worse than Scoot. Send him to the G-League and give him a PG role so he can get accustomed and work on his game. Daniel Theis should be playing 20 minutes max a game as a back-up.
Starting lineup should be: KPJ Green Tate KJ Wood With Sengun feasting on those second units. We also need to stagger KPJ and Green — can’t have both sitting on the bench at the same time. And I hope we never see Nwaba and Tate sharing the floor again. Just horrific spacing.
I would be down with this, as long as Sengun gets starter minutes. Pick and roll with him, green, KJ and Wood is deadly
hahahah same here...had to say it loud out of desperation...i hope coach silas take it in a good spirit and as a motivation if he reads this...i sure wish him the best and hopefully he gets promoted to a better team than rockets Spoiler
Wood (and Sengun) are both liabilities at the 5 position... BUT it makes us so much more dynamic on the offensive end that it should be a net +. Plus it's a lot easier to defend when your making baskets then getting back in transition. I still like Sengun + Wood to start but the stagger both of their minutes at the 5 after that. Hopefully Theis can get traded or something because I know Silas will get him back into the starting lineup as quick as he can.
Uh, who on the roster who was available do you want to go to? Garuba? Christopher? Nwaba sucks but believe it or not, he's the best defender on the team.
Hard disagree. Nwaba's defense was awful last night. And yes it would have been nice to see Garuba for some spot minutes. Also you can stagger Green/KPJ minutes so we don't end up with the worst possible 3 guard lineup I could think of (DJ/Nwaba/Brooks)
