With the shape of our pitching and all the hate we’ve gotten, I didn’t expect us to get this far. Great bounce-back year for the Astros. No matter what anyone says. Great showing by the Braves. Class Team. I think MLB wanted a fairly clean team to win to bring integrity back to baseball… I could be wrong..
It's a good point. Braves were the worst team we faced in the playoffs. Definitely were playing hot AF when we got to them though. Still, this loss is on us. We wet the bed.
Um, I WANT a former Dodger, so that next time we travel to LA, those idiot fans will go "BOOOOOOO" just bc they're wearing an Astros uni, and it'll be so hilarious to see them boo one of their own.
I hate that second last sentence. The league didn't help the Braves here. Astros just sucked. They really sucked like 6 outta the last 8 games. Maybe 7 outta 10.
To be fair, Odorizzi was an emergency signing after they thought Valdez was done for the season. It's not like he was their prized off season signing. Although they didn't sign anyone big. They struck out on Treinen and Hendricks and settled for Baez and Stanek. Five straight ALCS and two World Series in 3 years, hopefully decent free agents consider signing with them thinking they're the missing piece. Some might say players won't want to be associated with them but looks like most players moved on. As for starting pitchers available via free agent... Scherzer-didnt want to get traded to Houston so why would he sign with them? He's 37(I think) and wants 3 years. Even if he's willing, do you give him 3 years? Is he going to be another Verlander? Gausman and Ray-was this season a fluke for both or are they legit? Kershaw-old and injury concerns. People say he chokes in the playoffs. Would he even consider Houston if they had interest? Stroman Not sure who else.
6/8? 7/10? Either way you do that math, you're saying the sucked in multiple of: 9-1 game 5 ALCS 5-0 game 6 ALCS 7-2 game 2 WS 9-5 game 5 WS Which 2 of the above "really sucked" Overall, they wet the bed this series though, that's for sure.
Of COURSE NOT HIM. But I also should've clarified I meant position player and not pitcher, so he's ruled out.
It's not like we need a Scherzer added to the roster. Maybe someone good enough to be the 2nd best in the rotation behind Lance. Along with Valdez, Garcia, and Urquidy, that would be a pretty damn good group of pitchers. And make sure to resign Graveman and keep that bullpen intact. Then replace Correa with either another SS or a 3B and move Bregman to SS(where he used to play before coming up to the majors). I keep going back to Correa having only 26 HRs this season. I'm sorry but that is nowhere near enough to warrant the salary he's gonna demand. Let someone else overpay him for the next decade. We seem to be set in the outfield for next season. Let Siri, Meyers, and McCormick compete for that center fielder position.
Not really if they are middle of the rotation guys... They have depth... McCullers Valdez Urquidy Garcia Javier Odorizzi With Ivey, Solomon, and a few others on the way.... So if you sign Verlander back with the additional 40 million left under tax (not all to him) then you are no worse off than this year... Trout, Upton, Rendon, and Ohtani is serious payroll... that could be 10-15 million less than our team for next year is without Correa or Verlander...
Bieber would be an awesome get... don't know if Lee, Leon, Perez, and something else is enough... Not sure worth dumping next generation we need to be cheap to pay for Yordan and Tuck...
