You can see he is trying to hard to live up to the expectations. You really think he thought he would be traded, put in the g league, and then thrown into a starting point guard role in games Wall sat? Hell no, he looked like he was just enjoying the opportunity last year. Now he is expected to come in and be CP3 with shooters like Green, Tate, Theis on the wings and the self proclaimed franchise leader in Wood People here are trippin. Make no judgment until at least 20 games in
Are we getting a new coach in those 6 months? If not it'll look exactly the same. It looked very similar to this last year with Wall and Dipo playing. No real system, lots of guys playing 1 on 1 streetball and failing then throwing a last minute pass or jacking up a three. Silas is 100% fraud.
Who cares who is coach, this team isn't going anywhere with any coach right now. It's all about player development. I hope you realize that.
He had less turnovers than last night but he lacks court vision. At the end of the game he had two guys, Green and Brooks) wide open with plenty of time to pass, but didn't even look for anyone else. I just didn't see KPJ as a PG. He's a scorer that like to play 1:1. Funny, I get the feeling Silas is trying to make him into another James Harden... a 6'6" lefty scorer that can take over a game. Wishful thinking in my opinion. Harden has tremendous court vision. He sees plays developing snd tends to catch people cutting to the basket with ease. Not so much for KPJ. Time to put him at the 2-guard position or SF.
One of my first posts on the forum was about KPJ's handles this summer...Not happy that he's proving me right. He played good ball in the first half, but reverted to his bad habits in the second. He needs to cut the excess dribbles and go downhill. He's big, shifty and athletic, he needs to use that as his advantage.
KPJ does frequently get compared to Harden, but it's kind of interesting to see how they are also so different. Harden has mastered PnR inside/out, which isn't something we are seeing KPJ do at the moment as well. Harden is also very good at finding cutters and getting the ball in a shooter's pocket. One turnover that I noticed from JG tonight was actually also partially KPJ's fault. KPJ made a pass that was on the front right side of Green when Green was positioned for an open 3. Green tried to reach forward to grab the ball without stepping inside the 3 point line or losing his shooting positioning, but did so anyways. In turn, that was an additional step that he unintentionally took, leading to a turnover when he blew by a defender trying to close.
Just give me incremental progress. He did a lot of really nice things tonight, and made a lot of really nice reads. Keep giving him 40 minutes a night at PG.
How many times are we going to see him lose control of the ball trying to bamboozle the defender with his unnecessary dribble moves and moving without securing his handle. Seems like it happens 5 times a game.
He had 5 total for tonight (still too many) but only one of those was the kind that annoy the hell outa me .... 8 assists. Had he made that game winner , the narrative changes. I saw some positives from this one ..... unlike the previous couple.
So coaches have nothing to do with developing players? Not sure you thought that one out very far before you posted, idiot.
Do you always call people you disagree with an idiot? Normally I wouldn't dignify a response and this will be my last one to speak to the others on here who might follow this. Paul Silas is great at player development. His history with other teams demonstrates that. Heck the work with KP3 demonstrates that.
Forcing KPJ to be the team's pass first PG is like trying to make Ariza the number one option. Not sure it's going to work out but I'm hopeful even though I dont think he's a starting NBA point guard
KPJ's field goal percentage has dropped 3 seasons in a row. He is shooting 57% at the *free *throw *line. Doing his best Shaq impersonation. But he is only 21, still learning so hopefully things change.
Nonsense. Silas gets no credit for Luca, LeBron OR Steph, those are generational talents who would've been incredible regardless. He's been a head coach for last season and this season. Last season's offense was pure trash too, with multiple all stars. The players who developed last year did so in the g league, those same players have got worse this season under Silas. The results speak for themselves. And no I just call idiots idiots.
I would say longer. PG is hard! It's similar to playing QB in football, it could take up to a yr or longer considering he's never played the position in college or the NBA but I definitely see the potential.
To be truthful and thus far I am no Silas fan as a HC. I think he did have some input with their development. Sure they are generational talents but the coaches help nurture that and manifest it. Like I've said, I think Silas is a very good ASSISTANT but I'm still holding my reservations as a HC.
