This is why I think trading for Ben Simmons is the missing piece for the Rockets. Simmons would be more of a distributor and KPJ can do more scoring.

The missing piece to what? Simmons doesn’t make the team anything more than first round fodder.

Simmons doesn’t even make us 1st round fodder…this team wouldn’t even compete for the play-in with Simmons…he’d give us a few extra wins and that’s it

He needs to shoot more TBH...he is a better shooter than others taking shots.

He could be the best player in China.

And that's where I'd love to see him be.

They have good soup over there I hear, would suit him perfectly.

Well based on the last game Porter made some strides not turning the ball over but it appears that was at the expense of playmaking as he took no shots outside of 3s and it was his lowest assist game of the year. There must have been some kind of shift in focus from either the coaching staff or Porter. Not sure whom - haven't watched the whole game yet except 20 minutes or so over dinner last night. . Is this a coaching staff shift or something KPJ was consciously going for? Would be curious to know that.

I hope he won't play hurt against the Lakers. I still have faith in him as a combo guard.

KPJr is turning it over on 31% of his possessions, that is unreal

    liked the defense.

honestly he should just shoot instead of passing it. rather a shot than a TO.

I was legit sad when he just dribbled it on his foot out of bounce bringing it up the court

If he is going to play PG - he needs SPOT UP shooters around his game, Tate doesn't fit, Theis doesn't fit, Green doesn't fit........put in Gordon for Green, put in Sengun for Theis, and put in KMJ for Tate.

Our chemistry is as much of a problem as KPj and Green being too young.

The players games do not fit.

Its possible that KPJ is just not a point guard and never will be. Until the Rockets arrive at that conclusion I think they need to set up an offense where KPJ just brings the ball up, passes to Green/Sengun/EG or whoever and spots up ready to run a pick and roll if the first option doesnt work out. Basically play to his strengths and away from his weaknesses. They dont need him to be a lead the league in assists type pg.

Edit: I really want KPJ to work out and maybe view him with rose colored glasses. However, I think he demonstrated last season both in RGV and with the team that he can be a legit player. Its up to Silas to figure out how to make that he case. I recognize that this is about more than just the turnovers and that the fit is very much a question. KPJ was one of the reasons I was very pro Mobley last summer.

Agreed that he could use a change on how much responsibility he has in trying to generate offense each possession. Silas preaches a ball-hopping offense but it's the complete opposite when KPJ is in the game, which forces everyone else to "want to get theirs" when they do get the ball

KPJ isn't going to be a point guard on a playoff team but thats ok. I think it's important to get all of our players comfortable with moving the ball. Look at how Segun and Garuba have developed in Europe. They know how to pass because that's the playstyle over there.

We need to do that here. My problem is this coaching staff and the lack of movement overall. We need to drive these players with no dribble offensive sets to get them thinking about the game as a team and not as dribble dribble step back hero ball shooters.

Porter average 6 AST last season and should have been MVP of G League as a 1st time PG.

It's barely the beginning of his sophomore season at position AND the personnel as well as system just do not fit.

Never mind the crazy spacing issues.

    COACHING MATTERS.

My biggest pet peeve with Porter, outside of the turnovers, is that he bails out to Theis of all people whenever he loses the handle or simply doesn’t know where to go with the ball.

If anything he should be using Wood as his bail out since he can actually score from of those situations.

Wood can’t pass for ****. But I’d rather see him taking a high volume of shots then watch Theis chuck bricks the top of the key.

That's because Theis is playing 5.

And Wood should be playing 5.

Green looks to Theis first as well because Theis is either the roller or sitting in the dunkers spot.

    Basketball 101.

Theis should not be playing 5 ahead of Wood.

    Or even ahead of Sengun.

This is a coaching and system issue.
