[NIH Admits] Fauci lied, people died

He rarely answers questions. It makes real discussion difficult.

 

The “_____ lied, people died” thing has to be retired. It’s as stale/lame as the “hey, hey! ho, ho! ______ ______ has got to go” chant at marches.

 

So Fauci is wrangling up people and murdering them in gas chambers? Not sure I understand why the Nazi suggestion.

 

I don't get the obsession with trying to get a "gotcha" zinger on Fauci. He's not a freaking politician and has been serving our nations across administrations. Just because he didn't want to go along with Trump's nonsense doesn't mean he should be public enemy number one.

Do these DOE scientists believe the virus was artificially created in a lab, possibly as a result of bioweapons research? That’s the contentious part.

The mere idea that the virus may have leaked out of a lab is a softer version of the “lab leak theory”, and to my recollection had never been fiercely opposed by anyone of significance.

It needs repeating that the lab leak theory is plausible but the DOE report doesn’t put anymore certainty on it. It has “low confidence”
Yet so many are treating it as though it is some smoking gun.

 

That could maybe be categorized as a misprediction in a personal correspondence. Don’t see that as a lie.

It appears that in the early months Collins and Fauci were highly skeptical of the idea that the virus spread from a lab, but it’s not clear to me if that opposition was about a lab origin in general or the notion that it was produced through artificially manipulation by lab scientists. Maybe they felt politicized public speculation about a lab origin would would be counterproductive to gaining scientific understanding of the virus, which would require cooperation from Chinese scientists. As you know, people generally have difficulty believing things that could end up being inconvenient to them.

 

Looks like that is the case. Though I believe the opposition was in the very early going (early months of 2020), during the period when cooperation with Chinese scientists to understand the virus for the purposes of developing a strategy against it was of critical importance.
