I'm so happy that the Astros are here to give teams like the White Sox, Nationals and Braves a World Series win after many years of drought to please their fan base.
i hear ya and I will be cheering for them. This is deeper than just not playing well. The hitters are in such a bad mental funk that this is likely gonna be a rout tomorrow for the braves. I hate saying it but our hitters are mentally beaten. Its getting worse every game. Even the body language is bad right now. How many balls have the astros hit hard in the last 2 games? 4? 5? Against what pitchers? Who? Its sad to watch them succumb to this mental issue and play so far below their abilities because of it. If the Astros turn it around, start hitting, and win this series - it would be the most amazing turnaround I have ever seen in a playoff series. I say this because they have to beat their mental demons AND the braves.
America did not want Astros to win The Fix was in Rocket River I am not even a baseball fan but I am hating the Astros losing
I would be interested to know if Bregman is doing any hitting work between games to try to figure it out? If so, then it isn't working.
I think folks are just saying it was the turning point but it wasnt the reason for sure. It was leaving all those RISP. Felt like Grienke was equalizing that issue the batters were having
They've never hit in this ballpark. Every park has a different batters eye. Yes, batting practice in unfamiliar ballparks is important just to get a comfort level.
I'm not one to move the lineup this late in the season, it really shouldn't be done, but at this point, I expect Bregman to strike out, pop out, or hit into a double play. You have to move him in the lineup. There is no two ways about it.
“Houston stranded 11 baserunners. It took eight at-bats with runners in scoring position. None resulted in a hit. They are 4-for-31 with runners in scoring position during the World Series. Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa have combined to go 3-for-28. Alvarez is 1-for-11.” https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...o-brink-with-World-Series-Game-4-16578345.php But sure, please, go on about the pitching/bullpen decisions
I've seen Brantley play 1B for the Astros, now in a Elimination game its too late now. Alex Bregman is sink or swim now at this point Astros Jetlag has to wear off at some point. Unfamiliar new city, new hidden ballpark the Astros have never seen. Astros looking shell shocked. Never once took batting practice Zack Greinke is a better hitter at this point Expecting a win instead of playing with urgency
I don't think I'm the source of the bad luck. I was scoreboard watching the last 4 innings. I didn't tune in once. Maybe I was the good luck? Hmm.
I guess the upside is that the Astros can't play much worse on offense, yet they've lost by very close scores of 2-0 and 3-2 the last 2 games. Even a slightly above mediocre offensive performance tomorrow could be enough. But I'm terrified that the bullpen can't sustain this much longer. We already saw some cracks forming tonight.
